U.S. Sen. Barack Obama expressed regret late Friday for his 2005 land purchase from now-indicted political fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko in a deal that enlarged the senator’s yard.
“I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it,” Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times in an exclusive and revealing question-and-answer exchange about the transaction.
In June 2005, Obama and Rezko purchased adjoining parcels in Kenwood. The state’s junior senator paid $1.65 million for a Georgian revival mansion, while Rezko paid $625,000 for the adjacent, undeveloped lot. Both closed on their properties on the same day.
Last January, aiming to increase the size of his sideyard, Obama paid Rezko $104,500 for a strip of his land.

What the earlier articles about this also revealed is that Rezko paid for a wrought iron fence matching Obamas fence, that Obama pays his gardener to cut Rezko's grass, and other little tidbits that make one believe that Barack and Rezko are much closer than the Senator lets on.
For some reason many americans seem to think this guy is a centrist, but he is wayyy out on the far left. So I take this scandal as very good news.

The chicago media is all over this like flys on sh*t. Rezko is under federal indictment and the Feds will look into every, and I mean EVERY aspect of his dealings with politicians, including Barack. That is never a good thing.

From this particular article is sounds like Obama just purchased land, though be it ajoining land, from Rezko. And whatever he was giving in campaign contributions, Obama later donated the same amount.
Perhaps the links will fill in the blanks for me.

Exactly. He's getting rid of this bad news now when nobody is paying attention so later he can say it was all aired in public.
This guy is bad news. They set up his Republican opponent for the Senate in Illinois by buying off his ex wife. She went public with "sex-club" stories to sink him. The MSM demanded he quit, and he did. Obama had only to run against Alan Keys who subbed at the eleventh hour.
They are paving the way for this guy, right into the VP slot. He's gonna run with Edwards in '08. No doubt about it.
The media is greasing the skids. He's in.
In DC, a deal like this doesn't even rise to te level of a parking ticket (especially if you are Democrat). Dream on. LOL!

I doubt this will have any effect on Obama's political future. People (well liberal people, anyway) love the guy and will rationalize whatever implication there may be. Besides, it seems like a clean deal from what we've been told, just a deal with a bad actor.
