I assume if it's -3 or -4 then it's a toss-up?

If the liberal mood is any indication, they smell trouble for the democrats.

I don't think Steele is going to lose. I think he has a lot more Black support than you will ever find in any poll, until he actually wins and it becomes fashionable to say you supported him the whole time.

What's interesting here is that if Pubbies can get 3 1/2 points more across the board, they will win 6 of these 8 races.

"This is a freak show, and it has to come to an end.
~Nancy Pelosi~
For this amazing remark, Nancy Pelosi is nominated for the Amazing Candor Award of 2006.
This is a singular distinction since no one has received the Award since 2001!
Congratulations Nancy!
Previous Recipients of the Amazing Candor Award:
2000
Hillary Clinton
"I've been in public life for a long time. I've been accused of a lot of things. This one really cut to the core of who I am."
(Responding to the accusation that she called Paul Fray a "f***ing Jew bastard".)
2000
First Runner Up
Joe Lockhart
(Press Secretary to President William Clinton)
"Well, I think . . . the president probably has more experience than any living human being about how deep in the gutter some people can go."
2001
(Tie)
Dan Rather
I have nothing original or profound to say.
2001
(Tie)
Susan Estrich
"You believe in principle, I believe in politics."
And now!
2006
Nancy Pelosi
"This is a freak show, and it has to come to an end.

Of course she was marching in a gay pride parade supporting NAMBLA in California when she made this statement, right!

Ok, being a cynic, I am figuring worst case. We lose Ohio, PA and Montana. IF we get no pick ups, (and we are close in MN, NJ and Maryland so that may be unduly pessimistic), we have a Rep 52-Dem 46-Indy 2 (IND who will be Dems in everything but name)US Senate. If we have a really good day it may be as high as 54-44-2.
Considering the multi billion Junk Media contribution in kind Advertising campaign, that is a landslide victory for the party fighting the Midterms in the 2 term of a President in the same party. The Senate rarely gets more out of balance then 55-45. IF they can only pick up 1 seat the Dems with the deck so heavily stacked in Thieu favor as it is this year, the Dems may as well hang it up as a major party.

They only poll Philly, Harrisburg, and the liberal east ... not Pittsburgh or the more conservative west.

It is uncertain just how many times Nancy made this remarkable remark--or under how many circumstances. Certainly the entire Democrat Party came to mind for the Awards Committee as did the circles in which Nancy circulates--there are so many--no wonder she's so dizzy.

For those interested, in my state, except for one race, I'm not seeing any hostility amongst the voters for our candidates and generally, a lot of enthusiasm. We are going to take some state house seats from the dems that are going to shock people--we are running ahead in normally dem districts. The internals are soaring for our congressional candidate that everyone had written off. We are now dead heat with the dem on that one.
Our ground game is great--thousands of volunteers working around the clock. Lots and lots of targeted calls in one county alone in a single day yesterday (the number would shock; but I don't think I should post it here). And, we outdid the dems by about 35,000 ballots (in my county alone) on absentee ballot requests.
We're kicking their asses in my part of the woods and it's a purple state.
BTW, if we win my county, we win the statewide races. That's just the way it works here.

I think Montana is going to Burns, OH is in trouble as is PA.
NJ is a tough one because there isn't much inherent support for a republican candidate and no real counter trend against the corrupt Menendez.
MD is fascinating to myself at least. I think Steele has a excellent chance of winning.
RI is tough, but (holding nose) Incumbency is so powerful I think Chaffee will pull it out. Many people vote out of habit, and Chaffee's name is synonomous with RI politics through his father. If Chaffee was going to lose, it would have been in the primary race.
52-48 Republican in the Senate, but that isn't very effectively a majority. Snowe and other moderates will torpedo conservative nominees and agenda items.
Lieberman is a shoe in, Lament is toast, and that accomplishes several things. Lieberman is solidly behind the effort in Iraq, so that is a +, it also will drive the Kos Boys nuts, a Lieberman win crushes there "netroots" campaign.

I think TN and PA are settled to Corker and Casey, respectively. Out of the other 7 it depends on how it splits, but we hopefully get at least 3 races.
