American labor unions are actually miniature versions of the larger Union in which they exist. Not entirely, and probably not in majority.
In the socialist republic of California, (and a few similar states), your analogy has value, but the Union as a whole, no. For one thing, the military has no union. Much to the dismay of DemoRats and commies. Also the left are the primary movers of your charge, it is the left that is oppressive when in control of governments.
Slightly off point, but a thought just occurred to me; anybody know how many union BOSSES (not union members) are ex-military? Might be significantly small.

Unions are just too convenient a target.

Now that is drying up fast
I've yet to see a Walmart without a busy parking lot. There is no shortage of people willing to buy the crap they sell. And if they should ever unionize and have to raise their prices, look for a new non-union mass-crap-seller to come on the scene.

Instead of bashing the many hard working and loyal Americans who are members of unions, the political right would do well to hear their views and work to gain their support.I don't think so.
