Statewide turnout is dismal. Only 16 million of about 25 million eligible citizens are registered, and it looks like half of those registered will have cast votes. Probably about 35% of eligible took part.

Based on the data I posted in #319 above, for the counties that are 97% to 100% reporting, it equates to only 46.7% turnout.

Yuck on the Ballot measure results. I followed the calcowgirl voting guide® and supported only 85/90, so there's no joy for me tonight. My county also managed to hike the sales tax and pass a school bond. Bad times all around.

calcowgirl voting guide®

ROFL!

I followed that one too. I felt more strongly about some than others, but this result is downright UGLY! Farmworker housing even passed! And the Prop 84 landgrabs are gonna delight in the defeat of Prop 90.

One more Santa Clara County result came in. By the slimmest of margins...

Superior Court Office No. 13

Completed Precincts 1,244 of 1,244

MICHELE MCKAY MCCOY 50.1% 134,077
TIM PITSKER 49.9% 133,550
Of course I didn't vote for the top vote getter. I'm 2 for 15 on candidates.

Our local channel 6 Fox news is reporting McClintock 51% Garamendi 44%, and also shows Prop 90 winning with 51%.

This was minutes ago.

I can't believe all the bonds passed. OK, I can believe it. I don't want to believe it. I hate debt. We need Prop 90 (or something similar) passed to avoid Kelo abuses.

I guess I should cheer up. It could be worse, right?

KFI said conventional wisdom is the center piece of Arnold's reforms next year is health care.

The good news - if it CAN be called good news - is liberals hate paying higher taxes! Look at the numbers on those tax increase propositions. They're ALL going down!

The liberals here LOVE spending money. But they hate being taxed. Now that's moderation, California-style.

I can't believe that you can't believe it! Everytime anyone came on this forum to point out that ARNOLD and THE CA GOP were campaigning FOR debt and AGAINST property rights, we were called liars "DICCs" and most recently "pricks." Every time anyone pointed out the lack of support for the downticket, or the damaging slurs invoked against them by the governor, they were drowned out by a posse of out of state cheerleaders. Without any opposition from the right, how do you think a non-restrained government will operate? How do you think a governor will perform who has proposed record spending increases and the largest debt in history? Just wait for the fascist "public private partnerships" to kick in--the State of California will not be recognizable. Just things to think about, NJ. Perhaps you should stop looking at conservatives as the enemy if you believe any of what you posted above.

I guess I should cheer up. It could be worse, right?

Oh, yeah. Cheer up! You "won" with the governorship. It's all yours! Own it and Enjoy!

People just had no time to vote. If I had known how it would turn out, I would have stayed home. My vote made NO real difference today.

You must be right.
It's streaming along the bottom, without percentages of precincts.
Sorry.

Like I said, liberals in BOTH parties love spending but balk at budget cuts or raising taxes. No Democrat is going to push another tax increase after the shellacking Angelides received. Oh every one will borrow, which we know is a HIDDEN tax increase, but its free money, right? Enjoy today, pay tomorrow!

Pombo... That is one of the races that depresses me the most.
We lost a great property rights advocate and sane opposition to the enviro wackos.

His district was being flooded by libs from the Bay Area. Pombo could only do so much. Let's face it: California is the face of the American future, beginning with the new House Speaker - Nancy Pelosi. The locus of Democratic power has shifted from the South to the Pacific Coast.
