FBI: Hackers Shut Down Bouchard Website

The FBI is investigating an attack by hackers on Republican Candidate for Senate Michael Bouchard's Web site, www.mikeformichigan.com.

The site was also hacked three weeks ago, but at the time it was believed to be because of interest in Bouchard's daughter, the FBI said.

The FBI said it traced the activity back to Maryland, and is on its way to investigate.

Mehlman was just on Rush Limbaugh's show and reminded Rush about the Democrat memo found in 2004 that tells voters to allege voter fraud, even if there was none.

Does anyone remember that memo and have a link?

If they were not aware of it, it might not be a "minor problem".

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Commitee----headed by Sen. "Chuckie" Schumucker...err Schumer of NY....who by the way was behind the misuse of a credit report on Mr. Steele (Republican candidate MD) and got caught red handed(Or is it blue handed) doing it.

Hmmm a coincidence? You decide.

Amazing. Do people who do this think the FBI cannot identify them?

Liberals aren't very bright ... that & they don't care and just want to stop folks from voting

I don't know about that... psychologically, I'd think most "hackers" are Libertarians.

Now the majority of hackers who are shady enough to putz with the elections, are the usual liberal "I'm saving them from themselves, so its ok" types...

Hackers think they are so smart but the risk just doesnt outweigh the rewards.

I could not get much other info from Google. Hughes is the big provider of broadband Internet over the dish. I am not sure if these servers are the spot that all the dish users come in from space. If so the person could be anywhere in the world.

UPDATE:

GOP Senate candidate Bouchard's Web site is disabled

DETROIT (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Bouchard's Web site was disabled Tuesday morning, and the Oakland County sheriff asked the FBI to investigate.

The site could not be put back into service before the end of Election Day, spokesman David All said.

"It's unfortunate, but it looks like our Web site is being hacked," All said. The site was disabled by a program that contacted it thousands of times, beyond its capacity to respond, he said, adding that a similar, smaller attack was halted after about five hours last week. All said the attack appeared to have originated in Maryland.

The campaign of Bouchard's opponent — Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow — shared the Bouchard camp's concern about the attack, spokesman Brent Colburn said.

"You know, we think that if there's been any wrongdoing by anybody that it should be fully investigated," he said. "Democrats know better than anybody that there's no place for dirty tricks. ... This is not what politics are about."

The cybercrimes squad in the Detroit FBI office was looking into the report, Special Agent Dawn Clenney said. She declined to comment further.

Those two IPs are likely part of a larger web cache cluster. We get heaps of legitimate traffic from those addresses and thereabouts.
