Early indications mean doo-doo. Remember what Parris Glendening was able to do at the 11th hour vs. Ellen Sauerbrey. Everyone in MD needs to get out and vote for Michael Steele.

I agree. Please, lets not end up like the DUmmies in 2004 when they fell for the exit polls.

VOTE!

Don't know about that. The Hedgehog Report reports fairly light turnout in the more Republican counties in the Baltimore area. That blog is by politically active Republicans (one of the nicest political blogs around. Many Ds read it and almost every commenter is civil and informative). Guess we will see soon.

It will make my Texas heart glow to see Steele win tonight. He waged a good, smart campaign that should be studied and followed by candidates in the future.

Dickerson has been hot-footing in the district and Carson has had "other" people sitting in for her doing commercials...you should have seen her on the news this morning...she was going to the voting booth and she was "shuffling" instead of walking...Carson definitely does not appear like a strong candidate....everytime she is interviewed, she has a coughing spell.....

"Dont believe ANY reports from MSM about voter turnout, GO VOTE !!! "

You can bet that MSM will be calling things early as possible for the rats, because that's the only outcome they can envision after all that hard work of Bush bashing, right up to the final campaign hour.

It's truly disgusting how the media is allowed to get away with their bias, blatantly obvious attempts to sway public opinion and effect the outcome of elections. They are taking away the right of the people to choose their own government, and it's something we just cannot allow to continue.

"It will make my Texas heart glow to see Steele win tonight."

Speaking of Texas, I heard that democrats are going to argue that any write in ballot in the Delay district that does not spell the name of the candidate 100% correct will have to be thrown out. Why did the republican write-in candidate insist on using two last names? She could have gone with Gibbs and helped out the cause a lot.

Ellen Sauerbrey was a tremendous, true conservative GOP candidate in a state that was dominated by one party rule since the days of Spiro Agnew.

She probably did more to resurrect the two-party system in Maryland than any candidate in the last 25 years. Yeah, she came up a little short, but only because Newt Gingrich didn't have the guts to take on the MD establishment.

I'm glad Maryland can finally do something for the GOP. We only have 4 or 5 Blue counties, but they hold the population. I've said it forever, if you can convert a respectable percentage of the black vote, MD can be a red state.

This will be the biggest victory for the GOP. Steele is a true leader that is articulate and doesn't mind fighting the MSM and liberal rags.

I agree with the second statement, but not necessarily the first.

A stunning Republican upset in the U.S. Senate race in Michigan (you heard it here first a couple of weeks ago) is my prediction for the biggest victory for the GOP.

Dear Loyolas Mattman,

There's a world of difference between Mr. Keyes and Mr. Steele.

Mr. Keyes is a good guy, but when he's run, he's been someone with a message looking for a place from which to shout his message. Thus, he runs for the Senate in Maryland, for the Senate in Illinois, for the presidency.

Mr. Steele is a local boy deeply involved in and interested in his local community. He was born here, raised here, went to school here, had a business here. He's been involved in party politics from the ground up, working his way to the chairmanship of the county Republican Party, then the state party. He held significant positions in the party here in Maryland during the 1990s, helping to engineer the recovery of the Maryland Republican Party from near-death to at least being on life-support (in 1990, we had 24 Republicans in the state legislature, out of 188 - today we have 58).

Mr. Keyes looked like a carpet-bagger. Mr. Keyes' focus has always been about the big picture, about the national and international scene. When he ran for Senate here, I didn't ever have the sense that it would have mattered whether he was running from Maryland or from anywhere else. Mr. Steele is the real deal. He knows Maryland issues, he's lived them, he's worked them. He, too, has a national and international perspective, but he also knows where his constituents are, and what are the local issues that mean something to them.

In fact, it is this latter quality that will likely win the day for Mr. Steele, should he win. This campaign has shown that while Mr. Steele knows and cares about what counts in Maryland, Mr. Cardin is little more than a DNC cipher.

Don't get me wrong, I like Mr. Keyes. But they are significantly different candidates running wildly different races. Mr. Keyes couldn't have won this election this year, either.

Dear Vision,

We have really only three Democrat jurisdictions - the city of Baltimore, and Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Together, the three of these comprise 43% of the population of Maryland.

The surrounding red counties have the other 57%.

Nice, capable, lady but a poor candidate. She came off terribly, and was saddled with being on the ticket with the likes of Bill Brock. Brock's campaign was as bad as Steele's is good. Which is to say, very.

And then she got thumped the second time around.

KKT had as much to do with the rebirth of the Maryland Repubs as Sauerbrey.

Ehrlich got a chance and made the most of it. Now Steele stands to benefit, and the line will (hopefully) be continued.

The guy who isn't going to get the credit he deserves if (when) Steele wins is Ambassador Keyes.

I'm in the heart of Montgomery County. VERY Democratic country. It's a hopeful sign.

Also, it's raining. That might keep the lazy home, who tend to be Democrats.

With all due respect, I must disagree. I voted for Alan Keyes. I voted for Bill Brock. I voted for Linda Chavez.

None of them had a prayer of a chance. Not even remotely close. Simply point, none of them were taken seriously.

Ms. Sauerbrey almost won.

To be certain, Steele surpasses Keyes in every respect. I see Keyes as Steele v.1.0.

Credit must be given to the Maryland party for seeing the potential in an African-American, values-based, candidate. It's a huge sell as P.G. County morphs from D.C. East into something more stable and prosperous.

The fact that Steele can talk about the ICC and the Purple Line is gravy.

From Polipundit. I would also be willing to buy a round:

Pass the Kool Aid

Deep down inside they know it:

Now, Mr. Bennett said, failure to win the House, even by one seat, would send Democrats diving under their beds (not to mention what it might do to all the pundits).

“It would be crushing,” he said. “It would be extremely difficult.”

Mr. Cook put it more succinctly. “I think you’d see a Jim Jones situation — it would be a mass suicide,” he said.

First glass on me, Demofascists!

I believe you're right. Black voters still feel a great deal of allegiance to the Democratic Party because of the Civil Rights movement. One of the Republicans Party's biggest mistake was to get maneuvered into appearing as the party opposed to Civil Rights. So blacks are stigmatized if they admit they're voting for Steele, who has been maligned by the race-baiters as an Uncle Tom and an Oreo.

Today, our conservative principles are closest to most black voters, and white and black voters who share the same values should work together for the party that represents those values. Blacks suffer more than anyone because of the Liberal values that weaken the family, downplay drug use as a problem, and go soft on crime.

In my opinion, the party that represents whites and blacks best is the Republican Party.

Concur...the BEST news for Steele was yesterday, when the Dems had to import Clinton and Gore to campaign for Cardin.. a sure sign they knew they were in trouble..also a good sign was that neither Sharpton or Jackson did much for Cardin...they were too busy appearing with Lamont..LOL...perhaps those two race-baiting hucksters are finished..
