Santorum "very confident" despite exit polling: 9 PM
Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^ | Novemeber 7 | Dan Majors &Tim McNulty

The AP has already said Rick Santorum's 12-year Senate run is over, but his campaign is denying that -- and raising lots of complaints about voting irregularities. According to the AP, state Republicans asked Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes to investigate what they said were instances in at least 12 counties where voters allegedly tried to vote for Republican candidates but that the machines reflected Democratic votes.

Santorum's campaign said voters complained that votes cast for the Republican were registered on computers for his Democratic opponent Bob Casey.

I have thought he was going to lose for a long time, but didn't say it out loud. The libs nationwide wanted him out. It is a tragedy, as he is a good man, a good Senator, and a great spokeman for conservatism and the Republican Party. Casey is just not-Santorum. I spoke with my parents earlier to complain about the exit poll garbage - and my voice broke.

Dang shame he lost- His complaining about the machines won't change a thing- however, if he were democrat- elctions all across the country would be immediately halted until a full 'bipartisan investigatyion' could be held.

Unofficial Returns
*** 236 out of 9,278 Districts (2.54%) Reporting Statewide ***
United States Senator

Candidate Votes Percent
CASEY, BOB JR (DEM) 50,545 76.8%
SANTORUM, RICK (REP) 15,309 23.2%

http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/ElectionsInformation.aspx?FunctionID=13&ElectionID=24&OfficeID=2 I assume Rick will lose, but if there was fraud, it should be looked into.

Look, I am watching the CNN talking heads gloat. The reality for us here is that conservatives were not motivated to vote because our principles were not represented by our President and our Congress. Let's put international politics aside. Yes, Bush cut taxes, but he grew the government. Look at the Education Department. He grew it. Our hopes for a diminishing education department, and a valiant pro life cause (Bush appointed Harriet Meiers, first, remember?) seemed ignored by this President. And the congress seemed to go along. So, it's not so much a liberal victory as a conservative defection. Plus, don't you think that our number one talk show host turning out to be a drug addict demoralized the base? It demoralized me. I bragged on Rush for years, and he disappointed. So, the page turns, and the hardship, I hope, re-awakens the party. V's wife.

Santorum enhanced the local economies from Phila. to Pitt. to the tune of plus $30 million.

"I am going to be so depressed if Casey wins. What is the matter with people in Pennsylvania. Casey is a dunce."

Santorum was never particularly popular here in Pa. Pa is basically a conservative Democrat state, and that, like his father, is basically what Casey is, at least on the social issues. Had Heinz not been killed in a plane crash, Santorum never would have come close to being a senator, as he won in 1994 against the weak interim candidate Harris Wofford. Furthermore, 1994 was a year in which any Republican could have won. There was never a major clarion call of populist support for him. Tonight's result is not a surpise, or at least it shouldn't be. He was finished the moment Casey won the Democratic nomination.

If I were Santorum and it seemed to be inevitable I would accept defeat graciously and not start sounding like Al Gore here.

Santorum is not sounding like Algore.

Algore conceded before he didn't concede.

I agree. But I think Santorum's "sodomy" statements and his Terri Shaivo antics really did him in. Far too controversial.

Imagine what I want to say and then multiply the curses by 10. This is sooo stupid. No votes counted yet they project winners.
