As well he shouldn't. He's a couple points ahead and there were near 200,000 absentee ballots issued in MD. Calling the winners for MD Senator and Govenor just after 9pm was wwwwwaaaaayyyyyy premature.

There will probably be more than 100,000 absentee ballots cast. Steele should not concede unless a win is mathematically impossible.
To: george76
He should NOT concede! This is the first of the early-calls to be rescinded. What a bunch of crap we are fed by the MSM!

Michael Barone on Fox seems to be indicating Steele doesn't have much of a chance. I don't think he's going to make it, sadly. What a shame. He seemed to do almost everything right and had so much going for him, with a lot of black support, and it still wasn't enough. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people I guess.

Michael Barone on Fox seems to be indicating....You're as smart as he is. What do you care what he thinks. If Steele carries 25% of the Black vote he wins. Period.

One potential problem with calling this race early, projections are based in part on historic performance of past districts. If Steele were to pull in a higher percentage of a traditionaly Democratic demographic it would throw off the projections. And guess what, Steele is likley to do just that with African-Americans. Not saying he'll win, but there is reason to be dubious of early pojections here.

Barone is an old Whitey who doesn't understand that Steele is winning half of the Black vote in some historically liberal Democratic precincts.
Barone's analysis might work for a White Republican, but not for a Black one.

the WaPo has pulled there call for Cardin, Steele's overall number do not appear to following the same trend as Ehrlich's did in '02.
However "if" Steele can maintain his relative advantage in unlikely districts, get out the alk seltzer for the Chuckie.
Steele seems like he has overall strength, not merely PGC strength.
They hate you Mike Steele.
