Okay, here's my vanity for the evening.
Looking past the (D)s after all the names of tonight's winners, where do you think most of them stand ideologically? I'm trying to see some hope in that many of the true worst of the worst did not succeed (e.g. Ned Lamont, the media darling but not-qualified-enough-yet Harold Ford, Jr., that icky Wetterling person who is just plain incompetent to serve, etc.). From my perusal of the winners, most of the newcomers seem to be closer to the semirational DLC wing of the party than from the wacko Pelosi/MoveOn/DU/Kos moonbat wing of the Democratic Party.
If I'm right, we can at least take solace in that 1) we can work with these people to some extent, and at worst expect gridlock, which ain't all that bad in and of itself, and b) the moonbats will quickly become even more insane than ever, once they realize these people are too moderate to give them what they want (a pullout from Iraq, Bush impeachment hearings, etc.).
So what say you?

The US has definately changed...and not for the better...but...BUSH is still POSTUS at least for another couple of years, so, there is hope.
Folks, sometimes the bad guys win...they won tonight...but that doesnt mean they'll win tomorrow or the next day.
It matters little what the true ideology of newcomers may be. If they want to survive in the Congress, they "go along to get along". They'll have to kowtow to the whims of the Pelosi and Reid agenda (yes, Reid... the senate is lost too.)
On the plus side, this wasn't at all unexpected, not just from a punditry standpoint, but from a historical standpoint. Sixth year midterms almost always go big against the party in power. If one were to try to put a positive spin on this, it does give the leftists two years to show their true colors and lack of ideas before the next big election.
What's this "we" stuff?
We're more than likely going to lose the Senate too; nobody's going to be "working" with us about jack.
This election guarantees a Republican president in 08'.
The Republicans can now play offense again and we'll see how an aimless Democratic party implodes trying to come of as moderate and fiscally conservative with the moonbats biting at their heals.
Romney is in the catbird seat.
This is a Disaster for America and the World and makes me question the wisdom of our democracy. The Democrats, given power will destroy the nation and therefore for the sake of our nation is should be considered if the Democrats should be seated by the current GOP Leadership. Such an action would look bad for the GOP but would be the best for America.
It will never happen.
Hillary won tonight.
I just hope the Dems are somewhat reasonable and constructive and don't indulge their inner moonbat as they have been doing the past few years. We shall see.
If they decide to over turn and destroy everything at one their coming into power will be short lived.
They aren't Zell Miller or even Leiberman. They are fakes that ran on conservatism, and could do it and win, because the GOP failed to govern as the real deal for a contrast.
Expect nothing good from their aisle.

Nonsense. The Democrats have an opportunity to remake themselves in the eyes of the American people. Can they do it and appeal to the South? Fat chance, but it can only be good for the country for the Dims to be forced to appeal to a wider cross section of the country.
The Pubs need to lick their wounds and get back to what got em into power.
Losing is not altogether a bad thing.

I don't care who thinks I'm a pollyanna--you're correct.
I just hope there's an America here for the Republican candidate to lead in 2009.
