WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, June 26, 1996) -- Capitol Hill aides disclosed that an additional 300 FBI files were obtained by the [Clinton] White House, among them files on former National Security advisor Brent Scowcroft and former CIA Director Robert Gates.
That raises the total number of files improperly collected by the White House office of personnel security to some 700 files, including many prominent Republicans, and the scandal is causing a furor among congressional Republicans.

Do WE have their FBI files? We should have Pelosi's, Ted Kennedy's, Durbin, Kerry's etc.
And this is just coming out today. 2008 Presidential election has officially started.
The Republicans have been COMPROMISED.
Good find. You know Hillary made duplicates.

Anyone doubt that the traitors in the FBI continue to feed the Klinton's the raw files on their 'enemies'.
Gee, Darn! I thought the files originally showed-up by magic somehow......Didn't the Klinktons claim they had no idea how they got there??
You don't suppose there m i g h t have been s o m e o n e associated VERY CLOSELY with Slick Willy that maybe wanted to look for "dirt" on people that they could look for to put pressure on them???
Exactly and what are we going to do about it? I would love to see the FBI issue some warrants for a certain Senator's house to recover the files.
Not a doubt in my mind! Pres Bush should have cleaned out all agencies from Clintonites when he took office instead of going along to get along because it is still biting us.
Sandy Berger?
NO ONE is ever going to make those people accountable for the crimes they have committed and continue to commit.
ANd that is one big reason why we lost the election.
I don't think the Republicans will ever grow backbones. I am 60 years old and damn tired of waiting for that to happen.
You know that Klinton protected everyone of his political appointees except for Linda Tripp. You cannot just fire everyone who ever worked for the previous administration.
Furor among congressional Republicans.
Why, what are they going to do, CRY?
I would like that to happen too. But remember, the Clintons took over the White House in Mafia style. He fired all the US Attorneys, they got the 900 FBI Files etc. I think we lost America last night.
This article came out in June, 1996
Just watch and see who Hillary picks off in her road to the Dem nomination. Those files weren't all on Republicans. Most of them yes, but not all. The only Dems safe from her are the ones who have risen since Clinton vacated the WH.
Since Gates' file is "out there" he can be compromised. Best his nomination be withdrawn.
We already know that Kerry is in her sights. I think it was Mark Levin who pointed out that some of Kerry's anti-military comments from the 1970s that were not part of that famous congressional appearance saw the light of day just after his "botched joke." It's so conveeeeeeeenient we only just heard them right after the "joke" that I would only be surprise if it turns out that the Clintons were NOT responsible.
Ping.
Double, double ping.
He kept on political opponents at DOJ for months because of how FL was handled. They were warned not to leave the Clinton appointees anywhere in DOJ by the VP. There were political appointee holdovers everywhere for several months and they were able to do what they wanted. You can get rid of them immediately, just cannot rid of Civil Service unless they have less than 90 days and they can be fired for no reason except they are not performing to expectations. All the political appointees who became civil service during the transition could have been terminated. You can also get rid of civil service if they have less than a year with very little problem.
The problem came from the phoney recounts in FL and the short transition period which was planned but they should never have held onto Clinton political appointees for months. Apppoint someone on an interim basis until they get confirmed.
What concerns me is the whole existence of the Baker Hamilton "Study Group". Who gave them a mandate and a mission? Why is James Baker involved? Why are we putting up an ex-CIA head as head of the Pentagon?
It's like Baker and Gates have been set upon this President by a higher power(one-worlders?) in a "Come to Jesus" moment--the President looked like a whooped pup today.
And Rumsfeld is thrown under the bus for what reason? Why are ex-Bush 41 cronies exerting influence now? To save Bush 43--or to redirect the country?
Something is not right about this whole thing.
Meanwhile, the gangsters Clinton are big celebrities, running around telling us what we should do. I know what they should do.
I missed the date but I would still like a warrant for the Clinton mansion and Ms. Clinton files. :)
Probably every commie newspaper editor and columnist in preparation for the start of the hearings. Now that the Democrats are in charge of choosing Bush's new cabinet, you didn't think any of the nominees would not be vetted by them way in advance, did you? /s
Have hope -- we sent Dr. Tom Coburn to the United States Senate to shake it up and he continues to do just that.
All this is just the tip of the iceberg. I don't doubt that hillary & bill took ALL the significant files in the FBI and the CIA with them when they left the White House. Why would they stop at 900?
And with their contacts high up in the CIA and FBI, some of whom are emminently blackmailable (which is why they were put there in the first place), I don't doubt that they are still being fed whatever classified information they ask for.
That's how they work.
At least I am not the only one that questions Gate's nomination to be SecDef.
so Gates goes down, big deal.
James Baker is running the iraq war now.
We didn't lose America last night, we just received a wakeup call. I know I did and I am more determined then ever to help right this ship by electing good conservative candidates from states that are red or lean red and as conservative moderate as we can get in State's like Maine.
We need to stand up and not throw in the towel. Dr. Coburn was given no chance of winning in 2004 and his army of grassroots supporters all over the state got him elected against all odds and he went to D.C. to shake up things. Not been easy but he is not backing down and neither am I. DemocRATs have awakened a mighty army of grassroots conservatives and now we need a game plan.
Clinton did everything he could but our people didn't understand the regs. Pres Bush should have overturned immediately all Executive Orders and not even looked at them because once ninety days went by it was hard to overturn them.
Pres Bush to his credit tried to bring a new tone to D.C. and the DemocRATs took advantage.
I agree - maybe it will be like Admiral Yamamoto said after Pearl Harbor: "I am affraid all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant who will have a terrible resolve" -to paraphrase.
Exactly!
It was unlawful for the Clintons to have these files. If we have their files, we are no better than them. The Monica scandal fatiqued the public and saved the clintons from this (and other more notable) investigation.
Yes, he should have. But he didn't, and his terrible lack of good judgement helped overturn Republican domination of both Houses in this election. Pres Bush's stubbornness is nothing short of self destructive. If the guy had just a little less pride, pride that is blinding his judgement, we would have laid waste to Iraq and pulled back into Kuwait with an enormous victory. Instead of getting caught up and killed in the Iraqi civil war, we should be safely watching it from Kuwait, while Iran watches it with terror running through their veins knowing they are next.
Tenacity can be a great asset, if you know how when to let go. Bush's stubbornness amounts to.......stupidity.
Again, I say: The Republicans have been COMPROMISED.
Look next to the Rose Law billing records.
Yeah, Buck, that's probably as effective as anything else they can do.
See your point -- let them have the tax hikes and spend more while all of us spend our time getting ready to take them out in 2008. See what the folks that wanted the RATs in charge say when their taxes go up and spending gets even higher. What is your take on the chance of vetoes?
This long time Bush supporter from 1994 agrees with you and your analysis.
Well.. its obviously ok.. wheres the investigations? so... whats the problem? Lets go digging.
I very, very sadly must admit, I think you are right. We're the minority party, now, remember?
When you're the minority party, you don't get to do much about your "righteous indignation". Unless you're Democrat, with the MSM "hounds of hell" watching your back.
You all really do need to alter your mindset with a dose of reality.
I stayed up to 4:30 this morning and noticed I have had some typos today along with not remembering where I saw something! :)
I think I remember something about that as well!
Something tells me the poor man's job just got a whole lot harder. Bless his heart, I got the greatest email today, but reality still bites.
