I wept this morning when I heard that Secretary Rumsfeld had resigned. What a bitter blow this was on the heels of the election. I called his office to thank him and express how sorry I am to see him go.
However, once I got to reviewing it I realized what a smart move this seems to have been. One of the Dem's favorite targets has been removed! I don't think they will be able to criticize the new secretary with any validity because of his newness to the situation.
I think Rummy left because he didn't want to suffer the obnoxious questions of the midgets. Rummy is a giant and it makes me sick to realize that a noble man's efforts have been ruined by shallow politicians. I guess Rummy knew he had terrorists in front of him and midgets behind him and he still gave it his best effort.
I just cannot celebrate that one. . .the Dems are never without a Repub target. . .the 'better' we give'; the more they attack. . .and in the end, we reward them by taking our own.
I will miss Rumsfeld; and since his departure; and Bush's appearance with Pelosi; I have sunk a bit; not with regard to our troops; but just disapointed with GW, their Commander-in-Chief - whom I still thank God for our having as our President, mind you. . .but am worried that maybe the Demrats heels ground firmly and daily into his face; might finally be having a deleterious effect.
