The Republicans lost. I don't like the message it sends to our enemies but your team cannot win every game.

This happens to the party that controls the White House since FDR. But remember this, America has a conservative soul. Liberalism did not win. Both Bill Clinton and other prominate democrats warned the House and Senate leaders not to push a left leaning agenda. The new Dems are much more conservative than their leaders(at least they campaigned that way). If this signals a new beginning for the Dem party, then it should be embraced. If it was a campaign ploy, then they will continue a losing streak. There will be legislation that we may not like, but that doesn't mean the country is ruined. What do you think the left would be doing now if we won? We are showing the public we are much more gracious losers. My mother, who is a dem, even mentioned it. I have to laugh when Bill Schneider said the GOP must move left. The Dems had to move right to win. This is and always will be the best damn country the creator in his wisdom saw fit to create. Polls show most people in USA value their relation with God by a large margin. This does not hold true in Europe. The GOP is down but not out. The GOP doesnt need to become like Bob Barr, but it needs to rediscover it's conservative roots. I have been on DU and other left sites and there is not all champagne and celebration on the left either. I will be leaving on a deer hunting and fishing hiatus and will be back in 3 weeks. Everyone have a good Thanksgiving

I like our chances for OPresident in 2008 and getting back both houses. The democrats will show their true colors and the US voters will be shocked.

Good post. We do live a great country.

I think we all got played by the powers that be.

I remember people saying a vote for Kerry is a vote
for Hillary. I think they offered Kerry has a sacrificial
lamb. They had a plan launched in 2004 to take back
the house and they got the Senate as a bonus.

It is going to be fun to watch Kerry get kicked to the curb
by Hillary.

I on with the "my team can't win 'em all thing." You can say that like the Steelers the Republicans caused most of their own problems by dropping the ball. Except when the Steelers lose I don't worry too much about being overrun by Muslim hoards, paying taxes out the yin-yang, and stocking up on ammo.

The thoughts I have watching the Steelers play require only one well-placed round. :)

I want to believe this...but republicans have a very weak bench (Guilania and McVain could never get nomination; Frist is weak; Allen - out; only Romney is feasible)

Clarity is needed. If we are at WAR, then fight a WAR....don't promote the amixture of 60% Marshall Plan + 20% democracy enabling + 20% shooting = War on Terror

Had Bush bombed Falujah (sp), this clarity/decisiveness would have propelled Republicans to victory...instead, he's tiptoeing around supposed moderate Muslim concerns and trying to please everybody.

Also, party distinctions have all but disappeared.

Clarity is needed.

How about a simple agenda...with actual goals and deadlines? I seem to recall it working in the past......

The weak & insecure will always avoid commitments and deadlines.....

It was a campaign ploy. The radical left pelosi wing is running the show, the "new" conservative democrats are window dressing.

They will vote the pelosi line.

The Democrats won nothing. The MSM won, they had no choice but to give it all they had. When these CIA leak investigations get hot, they'll have a lot of friends in government now. They really had little credibility left to lose.

Just mu opinion.

This defeat by the American people may prove to be more than a typical mid-term election switch. I hope I'm wrong, but Al-Qaeda and its underlings, could cause a massive switch to the GOP in '08.

Ann Coulter summed it up best for me when she commented that finally all the Diebold machines worked correctly for the first time! Isn't that amazing?

The Republicans lost. I don't like the message it sends to our enemies but your team cannot win every game.

If we want to win the next election, we've got to target the media bias. Their anti-everything Republican won the democrats their election. Even today if you ask a dem voter what dem policy they liked the best, they couldn't even name one. No one new what they were voting FOR. All they knew, according to what they learned from the MSM, was that the world was coming to an end.

Now that the democrats have won, we'll all be living in world full of smiles and sunshine. The MSM will tell us all about the beauty of it all, and what a terrific job the democrats are doing of rebuilding the broken and torn holographic grid of our glorious planet.

Media bias HAS to be exposed, because all we have is right wing radio and 1/2 of FOX news. The rest is all working for the democrat party - CNNABCNBCCBSMSNBC and even Al Jazgeera.

He who controls communication controls the world.

Unfotunately they don't have any. After reading all the hand wringing posts the last few days I have come to the conclusion that there is only one scenario in which the Dims true colors will propel the Republicans back into power. Remember as long as the MSM is the voice of the Dims they can do anything they want and then blame the bad results on somebody else and the majority of the American public buys it. This election demonstrates that fact completely.

As long as there is somebody in Washington whom the Dims can point a finger to as the cause of whatever is happening this will continue. Here is what I would like to see happen over the next few months.

In a couple of weeks (after Congress finally adjourns) Mr. Cheney resigns supposedly due to his health problems.

Congress is put into place and then the extreme liberals start with all the talk of what they are going to do (as if they already are starting to do).

At the end of January President Bush delivers the State of the Union Address with the following content. The state of the Union is good, low taxes, high wages, home ownership, record stock market, etc., etc. However the state of the government is not good. The people have spoken and they have said they want a change. I will not be an obstructionist President, going against the wishes of the population. Therefore effective immediately I resign from the office of the President of the United States. Thank you and may God bless the United States.

He then walks out of the room and goes back to the White House and starts packing.

Imagine now what happens. Of course for several days there will be accusations, breast beating, moaning and groaning. Piglosi has to be sworn in. The Dims now have a free hand for anything. But they have nobody to blame for anything. Especially if the Republican minorities act as an opposition party and not an obstructionist party.

Look how things have changed with the removal of Rumsfield. Bush is now getting credit for knocking the legs out from under all those Dims who were clamoring for hearings about Rumsfield and the war. The same would happen here. Suddenly the Dims have no target for their vitriol. Now they must deliver and what they have to deliver will not set well with the public. They and the MSM will not be able to pin the resulting economic crash, jihadist bombs, etc., on anyone except themselves because there is nobody else. They might try to do it to individual department heads but again these are their hacks and so the blame will not be on us.

This allows the Republicans to repeat 1994 and sweep back into power in 2008.

Nah, the MSM will sugar coat everything they do and make it out to be the greatest endeavor since sliced bread. And the ignorant masses will swallow it up. "Katie Couric says I should be happy about the tax increase, even though she makes 115 times the money I do and can afford it, ok, I'll be happy about it".

Sad.

Absolutely! And this goes for all of the Republicans. I just don't understand why they thought hacking for votes they will never get, while ignoring their steady voters would work!
