Well...to be quite honest, I'm not so sure the outgoing one would have been any more supportive.

I agree. Faced constantly with a second holocaust for 60 years, the Israelis have always found a way to survive. Denying the holocaust and threatening a repat, as the Iranian President has done, is functionally a declaration of all-out war. Given Iran's mlitary potential, I couldn't fault the Israelis for launching a pre-emptive nuclear strike. The U.S. has more of a margin for error, but it's not infinite. A soon-to-be nuclear power with 70 million people sitting on the world's 2nd largest petroleum reserves has got to be watched carefully. One hopes the day of reckoning can be avoided, but we best keep our powder dry.
