I still think that it would be unbelieveably wise to ask Cheney to step down(not because he isn't qualified)but put Condie as appointed Vice President(first woman, first african american) and her credentials and qualifications are superb!!It may sound crazy, but I like my martinis shaken, not stirred!

Condi has more important work to do.

She can be VP to the next President.

This guy is in fantasyland, challenge the first woman speaker who hid out to put her party in power. He might as well switch his party affiliation to Republican because he will get as many Democrat votes for speaker as they would.

Come on, there are a bunch of people downtown who are very, very different than people in OKC or the rest of the state. Now, keep in mind that I would be an incredibly happy person if urban-Tulsan were the 'left' in America. And if it sounded like I was defaming honest Oklahomans by making then sound like socialist nutbags like San Franciscans, I will certainly apologize. I do appreciate the two Frank Lloyd homes in Tulsa and I've been in both. And it does have a much more attractive skyline than OKC, for sure.

On the congressional district, I'm sorry about that one. I think I got my numbers mixed up. There has historically (in the last 15 years) been one dem district in OK and that was the district in Tulsa and the NE around Woodward. I must have just assumed that this was the same one when I saw there was a Dem in the OK House delegation. No ill intent attempted.

maybe you can help my memory, what was the name of that guy who had the seat up in the NE for about 8 or 10 years. He was a blue dog Dem, he was short and had thick black hair. Maybe mid 40s or so. Had one of those one syllable first names. And even though I had friends in Tulsa and made phone calls back in the early 90s to try to get rid of him, he was just too much of a good ol' boy for them to associate with Clinton. (Of course, I also made calls for Mickey Edwards in a previous life prior to Ernest Istook taking over his seat).

Since Pelosi is intent on taking on Jane Harman, my bet for next Speaker is Jane Harman.

The republicans have nothing to lose in supporting her and lots to gain.

And lots to gain!
It bears repeating....
And lots to gain!

Another batch of them are fake moderates to give them coverage in a fairly conservative housedistrict.

Heath Shuler's ears are burning.

And let me add this to my prior reply....

I could live with Jane Harman (being Speaker - pun intended).

However, even with undecided house races, the Dems will hold no more than about a 15 seat majority, meaning that if one-third of the Blue Dogs and the Republicans combine, Boren would be the next speaker.

15 seat majority...hmmm.

I predict that for the speaker vote and for any key vote, those so-called Blue Dogs will always come up one or two votes short of 15 when voting on our side.

Interesting. Hope for the sake of our nation, that there's some truth to this. Hope the Blue dogs aren't naive about the vitriol of their fellow democrats.

Like it or not the safety and well being of our nation rests with them. Prayers for them.

My apologies, I did totally biff that one. I think I'm one redistricting out of date since I haven't been in OK since in the mid-90s.

maybe you can help my memory, what was the name of that guy who had the seat up in the NE for about 8 or 10 years. He was a blue dog Dem, he was short and had thick black hair. Maybe mid 40s or so. Had one of those one syllable first names. And even though I had friends in Tulsa and made phone calls back in the early 90s to try to get rid of him, he was just too much of a good ol' boy for us to morph him into Bill Clinton in 1994. (I also made calls for Mickey Edwards in a previous life prior to Ernest Istook taking over his seat back in the origin 'culture of corrruption' which ended Mickey's career).

Boren says he'll back Pelosi

By Chris Casteel

The Oklahoman

WASHINGTON - Rep. Dan Boren, a Democrat who was uncertain earlier this week whether he would vote for Rep. Nancy Pelosi for speaker of the House, said Friday he will support her.

In a brief statement, Boren, of Muskogee, said, "I met personally Thursday night with Leader Pelosi, and she reaffirmed her intention to govern in a bipartisan fashion. I take her and President Bush at their word, and with that reassurance she has my support."

Boren spent his first term in the House in the minority but next year will be the only member of the Oklahoma congressional delegation in the majority.

One of the most conservative Democrats in the House, he often has voted with Republicans. In the immediate aftermath of the Democratic takeover of the House on Tuesday, Boren said he was uncomfortable with the idea of Pelosi, of San Francisco, as speaker. He questioned whether Pelosi would be willing to work with Republicans.

Boren's meeting with Pelosi included other members of the group of conserative Democrats who call themselves Blue Dogs.

In many public statements since Tuesday, Pelosi has vowed to work with Republicans, who will be the minority party in January after 12 years of running the U.S. House.

She doesn't have any Democratic opposition for speaker and is expected to become the first woman ever to lead the House.

When has Bush ever broken his word and when has Pelosi ever kept it?

Sad that he gets nothing in return for "her word." He should've at least extracted a promise that Communists, fifth columnists and impeached former federal judges wouldn't be heading national security related committees.

It's going to be a long two years.

IMO, it's all fluff....

They rarely say what they mean, or mean what they say.

My guess would be Pelosi read him the riot act.....and he laid down.

Happens in both parties....
