I haven't had a negative net worth since the first couple of years out of college, and I didn't get an especially auspicious start to my career. These are supposed to be fairly accomplished people. No wonder they're prone to corruption, they can't rub two nickels together.
Reminds me of the much under-rated Eddie Murphy movie Distinguished Gentleman.
I imagine much of the negative net worth is actually huge jumbo mortgages on big fancy houses. Sure they can't afford them, but they get the best rates (with supporters buying the view lots next door, like Obama has) so in a sense it's just another too-good investment not available to ordinary citizens. Like Clinton's cattle futures.
Probably legal fees.
Bribes!
LLS
John Kerry isn't worth shit. Must be the ketchup lady.
Alcee Hastings isn't going to need money? I've got a secret to sell.
Interesting that John McCain is worth between $25 and $38 million.
"I imagine much of the negative net worth is actually huge jumbo mortgages on big fancy houses."
They've got to be upside down on it then, otherwise the value of the asset would exceed the debt, contributing to positive net worth.
Great tagline...don't you mean public school?
Good question, I guess that we are reading it right. I wonder how he intends to get out of this much debt?
Notice that there are two Kentucky Republicans in that lower category. Yeah, and we're criticized here for being "the party of the rich". lol

Well, he is in line for chair of the Intelligence Committee. National Democratic leaders have historically found such information very profitable personally.
Where did Jane Harman get all of her money??
Harman/Cardon Industries
"535 Alcee L. Hastings (D-Fla) ($2,129,005) ($7,335,000)
How did Alcee Hastings accumulate that much debt?"
He is a great credit risk. And, just look at lincoln Chaffee to see how profitable shoeing horses can be.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is that?
I am afraid that I have been thinking the same thing.
Well theres the drugs, probably gambling and of course the Ho's....
Her bio says she graduated from Harvard Law and was at one time a Regent's Professor at a university and as someone said below her and her husband own Harman Int'l.
Electronics....CD players, DVD players, stereo equipment, etc. Big company.
