Democrats to 'revisit' law creating border fence By Shaun Waterman UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL November 11, 2006 Democrats will look again at the legislation mandating 698 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border and might seek to scrap the plan altogether when they take control of Congress next year. Rep. Bennie Thompson, Mississippi Democrat, told reporters this week that he expected to "revisit" the issue when he becomes chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in the 110th Congress. Mr. Thompson said the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) new border enforcement program, known as the Secure Border Initiative or SBI Net -- which includes monitors, cameras and other integrated surveillance systems -- is a viable alternative to fencing. "We might do away with it, or look at [integrating it into] SBI Net," he said. "A virtual fence rather than a real one."

My suggestion a fence around DC nothing goes in or out for at least a year.

I'd vote for this...but add that all communications be cut off.

The public overwhelmingly supported this bill. Having the democRATs demonstrate their anti-American agenda immediately is good for conservatives. We may have to make some noise, but this effort will easily be defeated, either by filibuster or veto. And the democRATs are showing their true colors, and they ain't red, white, and blue.

I predicted this... Was most of my posts to the stay at home conservative crowd and the ones that said mixed government may not be bad... Dems will be sure to secure their LATINO voting block for generations...

Paraphrasing T. Jefferson: "If a nation expects to be borderless and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

This is what George Bush wanted. He has gone over to the dark side because of this immigration issue. I truly believe that a deal has been made with the dems. Certain congressmen had their money cut off before the election. A house majority was Bush's desire. What happened to Curt Weldon was a disgrace. Remember what Tony Snow said. Now we finally have a congress we can work with on immigration.

Unfortunately, whoever we send the e-mail to is probably picking their nose or reading magazines. How frustrating. Will we also get to see the border patrol get these guys and send them back across the border?

Thanks Lou Dobbs, you have no idea the damage you have caused.

Look again. It won't be Lou Dobbs who will be signing any open borders/amnesty legislation into law. It will be George W. Bush who will be doing this damage.

I hope all the voters who thought the Democrats would be better on border security learn of this. The big welfare state Democrats and the big business Republicans both don't want an effective border. Bush is eager to give voting rights to the illegals. I think there must be an agreement whereby the Democrats rule the roost and the "moderate" Republicans look out for big business and screw the taxpayer. That way, all the big government types -- Republican and Democrat -- get what they want.

If the conservatives can take over the Republican party, the open borders problem will be a big, winning issue in 2008. There will be enough time to undo the damage. If the party continues to be run by big business liberals, then after 2008 the problem will only get worse whoever is in charge. Soon the demographics will not allow the problem to be solved. 2008 is our last chance and it all depends on who will be running the Republican party.

Pressing the agenda forward is easy done when the MSM is on your side.

It needs funding and the libearl dem chairmen won't fund it.

My friends we no longer live in a democracy.

If we lived in a democracy lou dobbs would have been going after the dems non stop during the election how they wouldn't fund the fence. He would have had e-mail questions asking do you think these liberal amnesty chairmen are good for america.

Dems will be sure to secure their LATINO voting block for generations...

I wonder if this can be exploited to make inroads into the black vote. If the black vote could go from 90% Dem, 10% Rep to 80% Dem, 20% Rep, even that might make a difference.

Conservatives were in charge in the house and for that they got back stabbed by conservatives.

The turnout rate in conservative areas was way down in a lot of areas.

When you have a liberal east coast elite press that lies it makes the dems a powerhouse.

Anyone know if they can fund it in the lame duck session.

The big problem with the last election the gop wasn't prepared for losing. Everything should have been completed months ago.

Correct and the open borders lobby is going to hate you for telling the truth.

Soon the demographics will not allow the problem to be solved. 2008 is our last chance and it all depends on who will be running the Republican party.

Correct again....you are on a roll. If illegals are granted rights and citizenship, America will be lost, and we may as well bow to Mexico City.

The Dem's can do more damage in 2 years than the GOP can fix in 10.

Yeh, but you can bet that GW won't be able to find his veto pen for any of this.

Tuesday night, Tony Snow was on FoxNews, elated that they can now proceed with 'comprehensive immigration' [that's amnesty for those of you in Rio Linda].

Wednesday, at his presser, the only point where GW shows a smile and elated joy is when the reporter asks about 'comprehensive immigration' [that's amnesty for those of you in Rio Linda].

Bush has the Congress he wants to get his 'comprehensive immigration' [that's amnesty for those of you in Rio Linda] passed.

===

Someone posted to me shortly after the 04 elections that GW would drop his 'comprehensive immigration' [that's amnesty for those of you in Rio Linda] when it didn't get passed before 04. I responded that he wouldn't give up on it until January 20, 2009, if there was ANY way he could get it through.

Doesn't matter.. MSM will shrill for the dems and this will be perceived by the public at large as a good thing.
