A provocative video hits the internet this week showing male soldiers in Iraq aggressively duct-taping a female soldier to a pole!
Titled, "When your the only girl in the maintenance section," the 4 minute long video shows a laughing female getting wrapped up with heavy tape.

This is the beginning of the MSM attempt to hurt the high regard most folks have for the military. They don't like the fact the troops hate the Dems. Therefore they need to knock the troops down in the eyes of the independent voter.

Typical shenanigans. This is definitely a rite of passage. I never got taped myself, but sure did participate in some frivolity!

I just saw this. Why anyone would get upset is just effing plain stupid. It is people in a combat area blowing off steam for God's sake!
If this offends some people, then those same people should be honest about it and say women should not be in the military, but they aren't likely to do that. Oh my...she is being duct taped to a pole. Goodness.
I agree with the poster "handy".

Oh, PUH-leeeeeeeze!
Horse play is part of unit "bonding" and breaking of tension -- it's healthy -- and if a female is "one of the guys", guess what? They take part too!
If this was some kind of mean spirited hazing, then maybe there would a negative aspect, but there is NO sign that anything other than some good spirited goofing around is going on.
Get over yourself.

She seemed like she was having a good time. I don't see the big deal, although after Abu Ghraib I'd have expected folks would learn better than to tape anything. There's a 100% certainty the media will take it out of context, and blow it out of proportion.
To: Halls
A recent trend in school fundraising is to buy a piece of duct tape to tape your principal to the wall. Everybody lines up and tapes him fast, then takes pics and has a laugh.
I'm sure this horseplay is no big deal.

But when this stuff hits the airwaves, somebody has to get into trouble. It's just the way it is. It is going to be pretty hard to convince the Cap'n at Captain's Mast that a guy tickling a girl getting tied up and held down by other guys in uniform isn't sexual harassment in today's pc world.

Expect a full blown military investigation into this horrible hazing. Justice must be served. These soldiers had better be dragged around in chains in a brig and denied light, food, and water as the JAG spends a few months wondering how best to set up the cases for their court martials and long prison sentences.
The young female soldier had better prepare herself for endless nights of intense interogation to obtain every naunce of how they had improperly treated her, so that the JAG officers can with triumph make sure each soldier gets a maximum sentences handed down upon being court martialed. After all. PC most be observed in todays army.

If this offends some people, then those same people should be honest about it and say women should not be in the military ... At least, second thoughts should be passing through sensible heads about the wisdom of putting women in combat roles with men. OF COURSE stuff like this is going to happen when you put a bunch of young men and young women together in a place far from home! Personally, I think it's kind of unfair to men, or boys turning into men in a man's world, to have women-as-equals tossed into the mix. Especially in combat situations.

In fact, if the females were not included in this stuff I expect some of them would complain that they were not being treated like the rest of the unit. While I don't think I would find it very fun, I also wouldn't have much interest in being in the military, as a female.

I wish I could see the whole video. Looking at those frames that Drudge picked to display does make you wonder if the girl is a willing participant, but I'll take the word of those here that have seen the video that she is laughing and not protesting the treatment.
What would make the difference to me is if she was crying and telling them to stop. If she is laughing and going along with it, then I fail to see any problem and don't find it inappropriate at all.

From what I understand ANYONE can post ANYTHING on youtube.

I watched a new show in the Military Channel the other day, "Iraq Diaries". These are home movies taken by GI's in Iraq. 5 minutes long or so each.
Many are like this one with young folks just blowing off steam. I have a 20 year old in college and her hijinks are very similar.
Nothing to see - move along.....

In the Army, whether male or female, this play around happens frequently. If it was another guy, no one would care.
Of course, the left will make a big deal out of this and our troops will once again be slandered for doing what the troops do in high stress situations.
What they were doing is no more than many big brothers do to their sisters. Why it made it to the net I don't know, but we did this and worse to each other in Viet Nam, all in fun and no intent to harm anyone else.

Looks like routine GI horseplay to me. We did stupid things like that to each other all the time. If you were accepted as part of the squadron, you could expect shoe polish on the phone and other evil things.
We duct taped a FNG to the toilet in Flight Ops and took his flight suit and laid it on the ramp with a "remove before flight" streamer on it. He helped us torment the next FNG. That's what makes RONs more interesting.
