Senate Coverage -- (November - December '06)
THOMAS ^ | November - December '06

Posted on 11/13/2006 12:09:41 PM PST by Mo1

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

That list of Republican leaders is ALOT better than what we might have gotten: McCain, Graham, Snow...There is atleast a little silver lining in all these clouds that have settled over Washington!

I watched the presser with Nancy...and her smiling the whole time full mouth gave ME a headache...sheesh.

The whole speech she gave was just so much spin...she was trying WAY too hard to cover up her embarrassment..

I loved the way she put Steny down by announcing that he won a stunning victory!! like how shocking..but here he is!

LOL

Oh good grief....Hillary was just up screeching about raising the minimum wage going up.

Has a group of ACORN people...I wonder if any of them will blame Hillary when their job is discontinued, because the boss has to pay more to the people ahead of them in seniority???

I guess the illegals will get this much too???

My first "job", I made 1.90 an hour, working at Safeway..and it was UNION...LOL

You know...there is something that just doesn't "feel" right about having Sweeney, the head of the AFL-CIO, giving a speech with Hillary, Kennedy, and Schumer standing behind him...

It always rubs me the wrong way when I hear speech after speech at DEM conventions, saying that the unions are their #1 concerns..

I have read a few articles since the "Dubai disaster"...that lead me to believe that it was more about saving union jobs...than outrage over who would hold the lease at the shipyards...

New York is a BIG union state...hmmmmmm

Boy they are both sanctimonious bastards..(sorry for the language) OOOPSy...I typed too soon...now, Schmucky is up.

Sleuthie, are you seeing Kennedy's face. How is it that some organ hasn't failed yet? And this Wan Kim is totally unprepared for this.

Yes...someone should have warned Kim...or maybe he should watch C-span sometime.

When I look at Ted Kennedy...I hear that old saying in my head..."the good die young"....

I have no idea how he is still walking around...I DO know that he reads his questions...but has no idea what they say...

Anyone going up against Teddy in a hearing needs to plan on asking HIM a question...or veering off the line Teddy starts....he won't have a clue what is going on...LOL

I think I see how terrible the next two years are going to be as we go through "oversight." Kennedy was implying that the JDpt doesn't care about all of those terrible civil rights violations going on out there during Pubbie administrations. More lawyers, more prosecutions, that's what we need.
