Democrats will not disappoint
We pledge to make this the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history.
With their votes, the American people asked for change. They cast their ballots in favor of a New Direction.
They called for greater integrity in Washington, and Democrats pledge to make this the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history.
The American people called for greater civility in how Congress conducts its work, and Democrats pledge to conduct our work with civility and bipartisanship, and to act in partnership - not partisanship - with the president and Republicans in Congress.
The American people called for greater economic fairness, and we pledge to work for an economy that enables all Americans to participate in the economic success of our country.
Nowhere was the call for a New Direction clearer than in the war in Iraq. The strategy of "stay the course" is not working, has not made our country safer, has not honored our commitment to our troops, and has not brought stability to the region.
The president's acceptance of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's resignation on Wednesday is an encouraging step. It's an opportunity for a fresh start in Iraq, and I hope it's a precursor to a change in policy.
With integrity, civility, and fiscal responsibility as our guide, Democrats intend to move forward with the agenda for change on which we were elected.

The Democrats are like someone that keeps bugging you to drive. They keep telling you they are better drivers than you. But when they get behind the wheel you find out that the problem is that they don't know where to go. So they sit there and tell you how good they are at driving instead.
As far as I'm concerned the Republicans blew it. They blew it when they were not prepared to keep Delays seat. They blew it when they did not do something dramatic like dump Rummy prior to the election. They blew it when they left their conservative principals. They blew it with this "new tone in Washington" crap that allowed the Democrats to slap them over and over with no response. They continue to blow it by parading a bunch of tired out, worn out old farts. Has anyone ever noticed that their is not one young face in the Bush administration?
As far as the Democrats and the next two years they will likely piss a lot of people off. Oh, right now they are all mostly talking softly and acting "sensible" on TV but that won't last long. Once in power they cannot help but get their revenge. It's going to be ugly because unlike the Republicans the Democrats actually will wield their power in a unified way.
Frankly, I say through all the bums out. They have no respect for the public and certainly no respect for all the money they tax us out of.

I'm sorry, when the Soros-funded CREW already designates a Democratic Speaker's first choice for Majority Leader as one of the 12 biggest scumbags left in Congress, the only way the Dems can't under-perform with him in charge is to have no standards whatsoever.

Somebody should do a parody about this witch.
They could call it "Mrs. Pelosi's Neighborhood" - a takeoff on "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood"
A place where nobody has to pay for medical care and there are three year line-ups for appendectomies, where people have a right to marry their "animal companions", where nobody has guns - not even the cops (except for criminals), a place where anyone in the world who wants to can come to America can - no questions asked, a place without a military establishment, a place with a $50.00 per hour minimum wage, etc. etc.

I hate to have this feeling, but I can't shake it. (placing tin foil hat on head) There has to be something funky going on for a Party with so much power to act the way they did for these past two years. It cannot just be coincidence that they did NOTHING to fend off the constant barrage of attacks.
I still believe that what won W the 2004 election was his Ownership Society platform. If the Republican-led Congress could have just passed legislation enacting these dramatic reforms, they would have kept power for a generation. But they didn't. Leads me to believe that either ALL politicians want to give scraps to the commom folk or that they really get to Washington and enter into a bubble widely disconnected from American society.
Main Problem - Every Politician knows that dramatic reforms lead to too much power in the hands of the people and they just can't have that. They have worked too hard to grab as much power as possible.

Does this mean they will adopt an ethics rule that requires that anyone in a leadership position must resign his/her leadership post if indicted for a crime? They made such a big stink when the GOP contemplated changing its policy to exclude politically motivated indictments, but they don't have any kind of equivalent policy themselves.
