Amen to that, Sistah! And by "fun stuff" you mean "investing extra money saved into your retirement fund," Right? LOL!

I'm ashamed to say I gave GENEROUSLY to the United Way when I was young and stupid and didn't have the money to be giving!
WHY are they able to get large companies to pressure their employees to give to this organization, especially in light of the scandals of their adminstration in recent years?
Assumtion based on Ford's open support of homosexual agenda, and sponsorship of several major homosexual events and publications.

Most of those I don't do business with anyway. Only a few that I have - but will try to get them off my list.
Much like Diana, though not quite as good about it as she is, I have eliminated much "stuff" from my list of "needs."
I'm sure there are more things I could eliminate from my shopping lists, which always tend to be far too long anyway...but I HATE to shop, so I do it as infrequently as I can possibly get away with. I am also very tight with a buck, and I am going to make sure I get the best product for the best price as I can, if that means WalMart fine, if it means some place else, that's fine as well. However, I live in the middle of nowhere and there are very few alternatives for shopping without driving more than 50 miles, so that is also a consideration when it comes to best product for best price.
But going back to the issue at hand here - affiliate programs are run by a clearing house, the different companies sign up with the clearing house and they screen the prospective "affiliates" if the OK is given then the logos, links, etc are forthcoming from ABC corp to the new affiliate. More often than not as long as the prospective affiliate passes the screening of the clearinghouse ABC corp doesn't even know what kind of website it is.

Based on that list and many of the attitudes taken by some folks around here, I guess my husband would be expected to quit his job, as the company he works for is listed as a Founding Partner.
That's not going to be happening anytime real soon, guarantee that.

You should organize your entire life around fighting the gay agenda. No more Will & Grace re-runs for you!
I do not find fault with that position.
But let's take it a step further, considering some of the attitudes displayed on these threads......how does harming a person, who has nothing to do with such corporate decisions, fix the perceived problem? It's the part-time cashier or stock clerk that gets hurt when, or if, these boycotts work, not the corporate bigwig who made the decision.
Look at the list in post #77 (the one immediately following the one I'm responding to here). It's a list of corporate sponsors of the Gay Chamber of Commerce. The company my husband works for is listed as one of the founding partners. My husband is no corporate bigwig, he's just the average schmo who goes to work, does his job, and actually likes his job and work. He's pretty low on the totem ple, but his job allows me to be a stay-at-home mom, gives him pretty flexible time when it's needed for family stuff, and a whole host of other family oriented things.
Are either of us compromising ourselves or our integrity because he works for this company? Absolutely NOT. And I have the same attitude towards others who work for any of the companies on that or any similar list..........including the numerous FReepers who do work for WalMart or any of the other companies that are on those lists - including my husband who is also an occassional poster here.
If that weren't the attitude of so many people around here, I would find it funny.
BTW, I've never seen a single episode of Will and Grace and so don't have a clue about the meaning of your reference.

You can spend your entire life boycotting folks who hold a different opinion or lifestyle or speak in an offensive manner. The list of boycotted actors, musicians, comedians and companies seems to grow daily. At some point it reaches proportions that cross over into the absurd.
Will and Grace is a situation comedy where some of the characters are openly gay. Oddly, re-runs of the show was one of the RNC's major media buys during the last election.

I've come to realize from these threads that there are some people out there who think about the gay lifestyle more than gay people think about the gay lifestyle.
