HE does a good job for conservatism.

The premise of the article is absurd.

The brain-dead Republican leadership GAVE AWAY at least ten seats through sheer incompetence and complete idealogical torpor.

A more aggressive program of managing the corruption scandals and better candidate recruitment might have been able save up to 15 seats. Dennis Hastert is a nice guy but as a legislative leader he was train wreck who seemed in a coma a good bit of the time.

The idea that moderates were alienated from the GOP by advancing too Conservative a program is laughable. I know this because NO PORGAM was advanced.

The post-election spin war has started and the so-called GOP moderates are attempting to exploit this election to promote their agenda. It won't work because it isn't true.

What should be derived from this election cycle is the MSM is aging and slowly dying but it still has fangs. A wounded animal is always the most dangerous kind and the MSM showed that in this cycle.

The "cow-towing" reference was to the RMSP`s Sarah Chamberlain, not Human Events David Freddoso, the author of the article. As Freddoso said: "(For the record, I also oppose “cow-towing,” and all other forms of bovine abuse.)"

LOL

From 2002 to 2006, the GOP LOST 8% of the white male vote, from 60% to 52%. The same factors that led to this loss of the white male vote also most likely played a role in the loss of 4-5% of the white female vote. Combined, this shifted more than 5% of the vote nationally to the Democrats.

Rick Santorum is no wimp. He brought out the dangers we face. So why did he lose?

Santorum and Bush campaigned hard for Specter after the conservative Toomey began to take the lead. For conservatives in PA who were invested in the Toomey candidacy, this is known as "the day Bush came to town and shot my puppy".

To further aggravate a very bad situation, Santorum was foolish enough to place senatorial collegiality over principal and to speak openly in favor of Specter's seat as head of the Judiciary Committee. Ironicly, the chairmanship that he was instrumental in securing was in the end a chairmanship that he helped forfeit.

Makes sense to me. It's a shame that Specter won at Santorums expense.

Rick Santorum is no wimp. He brought out the dangers we face. So why did he lose?

His reelection came up at a time when the PA. electorate was angry about a pay grab by a greedy, over sized, elitist state legislature. An anti incumbent mood was fostered by a lot of the talk radio stations.

Rick let himself be portrayed as an elitist hypocrite.
He moved his family to Virginia, even though he criticized his first opponent, Doug Walgren, for doing the same thing. (Skip the lecture, I know he was a Congressman)
Even though Santorum lived in Virginia, he cyber-schooled his children in Penn Hills at a cost of some $200,000 and tried to justify it by saying he paid property taxes on a small 2 bedroom house that he owned and his niece lived in.
While decrying the high cost of health insurance because of out of control tort suites, he and his wife sued her doctor for malpractice and pain and suffering.
Then he went and committed the ultimate sin of claiming to be Mr. Conservative and pro life while supporting Arlen Spector's reelection and cutting the throat of a good conservative like Toomey.

I could go on, but I think you should be able to see what sunk Rick Santorum.

By the way. I voted for Santorum anyways, because I can't ever vote for a lying socialist crat like Casey.

If you want to see the test results of what happens in elections when conservatives are marginalized by the GOP , look at Pennsylvania.

Not to mention that Santorum kicked a lot of conservatives in the gut with his support of Specter. People said they wouldn't forget, and they didn't.

Bonnie, what is upsetting people is not so much the loss, which is not cataclysmic, historically speaking. It is the way we lost.

This campaign was the icing on a very rotten cake that goes all the way back to GW's campaign against Gore... and before that to Dole ... and before that to the disgusting cave-in by GHWB in 92.

The economy has been brilliant, taxes are low, inflation is down. No the reason for this particular loss was sloppy inarticulate campaigning. THe money spent was astronomical, but it was spent without direction. The MSM anti-war hoopla should have been easy to deflect. Most people agree with Republican values.

No doubt about it, IMHO, we lost because of bad leadership and poor communication. Most frustrating. direction and tone deafness from the top down. The RNC needs to be flushed out, we need tough, no-nonsense communicators ... and a leader.

Just saw this post. Very well stated.

I joined in the FReep of Santorum in NYC, when he was supporting Specter for the Chairmanship. I'm a prolife New Yorker, and Santorum was my Senatorial hero. But when he supported Specter, and gave answers that smacked of political expediency, with such an attitude of superiority, I said to myself, "That boy needs a smackdown." A lot of Pennsylvanians felt likewise.

Well, he got his smackdown, and I am very happy about it. The people finally got heard when they spoke.

That was the conservative message of '06: hear us or we'll smack you down.

IMHO....W had his own "read my lips" moment when he nominated Harriet Meirs for the Court. I realized at that moment he was "all hat and no cattle"....that in the end he really just did'nt "get it" about conservatism.

My W "read my lips" moment came when he first started talking pro amnesty for illegals.

He said, "We're losing a lot of good people out there."

He was referring to Mexicans dying in the desert, while trying to illegally enter the US. (I'm sorry that there are such deaths, but they are taking this risk upon themselves.)

All I could say to myself was, "'WE!' WHO THE HELL ARE 'WE'??????"

>"My question for her is this: If the far right is “soley (sic) responsible” for Republican defeat, why did so many House GOP moderates get wiped out last week?"

Oh, I'd say about 60+ years of the nonstop communist propoganda networks, had a good bit to do with it.

Ever since Adolf was outta the piciture, in '40 something, the 5th branch has been pushing the communist agenda, nonstop.

The last 7 years have been extrordinary in they have been exposed. IE SeeBS's forged fraudulent federal documents, and AceholeBC's admitted election reporting bias. NYT prints classified docs, and Pinchys still lookin for more intell to give away.

Time to declare war on the ENEMEDIA!

ABC CBS NBC CNN its all the SAME, Propaganda.
Might as well call them all AmeriJazerra.
Show them how much Psychological Gravitas Hugh Bris has. Vote with your remote! Shut down the Alphabet channels. *"aka the ENEMEDIA
