I must have lived a sheltered life. In all of my 20 years working in the oil industry in the Middle East I have never met an ex-Muslim. I have heard about these enlightened souls but have never met any of them. They must be very special individuals.

The man is right that democracy and Islam is an oxymoron. Of course GW, Condi and our politicians will disagree with him. They still crow that Islam is the ROP. Many, many loose screws.

My family had a foreign exchange student from Turkey. He was Muslim. My mom loved him, he was actually very conservative and ethical. I guess the Muslims would consider him not really a Muslim. Anyway, he told us that when he was younger his father took him to mosque and, I guess, the Mullah was preaching his filth and stated that "You should beat your wife." Well his dad grabbed his son's hand and left and they hadn't been back to Mosque since. He hasn't traditionally converted although I think he believes much more in Christianity than Islam.

We also had another student from Turkey a year before that and her and her father did want to convert to Christianity so my mom and I helped her to begin while she was here so that she could help her father when she got home.

It does happen.
