Bingo.

And if we take it through the natural progression these people seem to want it to take, people who work for these companies should quit their jobs or they are not true conservatives.

I guarantee you my husband won't be quitting his job over this, and he's a sight more conservative than even I am.

Saved this when posting to another thread several days ago, regret no link saved..

"Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said that since the link was established with the group in 2002, it has attracted one purchase at Wal-Mart, worth $41.73. That purchase generated a payment of $4.17, apparently because Wal-Mart was offering a 10 percent commission at the time, he said."

I did not misread it. I'm familiar with affiliate programs on the web. But for the uninformed

So imagine my surprise, my shock really, when I read yesterday that this venerable company, the international outgrowth of Mr. Sam's personal vision, has agreed to automatically donate 5 percent of online sales directly to the Washington, D.C., community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people! The cash donation will come from online purchases made at Wal-Mart through the homosexual group's website. Every purchase made online for books, music, videos, clothing and accessories, children's clothing and toys, and electronics will automatically send 5 percent of the sales to the CCBLBT organization.

the bolded parts imply something different.

I go back and forth on the Chinese issue. Walmart wouldn't be Walmart with out the cheap Chinese product they sell and it's certainly true that you can really stretch your paycheck there especially when clothing your children.

I admit than I just purchased 3 pairs of snowboots and 4 pairs of shoes, 3 pair of jeans and 2 long sleeved t shirts, 6 bottles of shampoo/conditioner for $198 and change last week.

I can't do that at Sears or Penny's or even K-mart (Sears owned) and they are also selling a high proportion of Chinese made clothes and shoes because I do read labels. And it does make a difference in our family budget with four hungry growing kids.

But I won't shop there on TG weekend as requested because I do want to send a message to management. It's only a two day boycott to remind them who their customers really are.

Gays don't shop Wallyworld anyway, to them it's synonamous with the middle class breeders they distain. It was stupid of corporate to pee on us to curry favor with a demographic that essentially meaningless to their bottom line. They are doing it out of capitalistic desires to maximize profit, but for pathetic country club social reasons.

I'm conviced it's because management (and wives) are secretly embarassed of who and what Walmart is and who their main consumer is. They wan't something they can point to, when they get ribbed in the locker room, to show they aren't like us, they just sell to us.

If Sam were alive, he'd kick their collective butts.

Apparently, AFA has done more to promote the link on the group's site than the group itself ever did.

And don't forget the original misleading title of the email, as well as the misleading title of the press release from AFA. It implied ALL online sales gave the group the 5%, not just from that site.

Since gays/lesbians supposedly represent only about 10% or less of the total population

way less, more like 2-3% choose to abandon natural relations for unnatural ones.

Tou are correct. The website itself would qualify for the rebate based on linked sales. You and I could set up a website in a few hours and do the same. If Rev. Donald Wildmon of AFA would link to Walmart Christian books and records, he could also earn some extra funds to go with the donations to AFA.

It's Wal-Mart's affiliate program that just about anybody with a web site can join. You fill out a form at Wal-Mart's web site, and you get some code and images you can use to put the click-through on your web site. It's a very common sales tactic with online retailers.

You're correct, and I would even be posting the same info... if Wal-mart hadn't *also* joined up with that gay & lesbian chamber of commerce. They've squandered all their good will with me, so if people want to spread false rumors about them, I will no longer stand in the way.

Exactly. But if it were stated the way it SHOULD be, support would be nil.

I think this is a deliberate economic sabotage attempt playing on Christian fears.

That's what Don Wildmon does. K-Mart, Disney, Procter & Gamble, Kraft, and most recently Ford have gotten this treatment. It gets Wildmon on TV and impresses his donors.

Unfortunately, it means that at minimum that Walmart is contributing to this group. They are trying the same sort of hustle that Jesse Jackson is famous for. Give us money or we will cause trouble. It is extortion, and it works, even with Walmart, because the gay rights movement is an important part of the Democratic coalition.
