What will it be, Senator Kerry?
The Boston Globe ^ | November 19, 2006 | JOAN VENNOCHI

Posted on 11/19/2006 6:46:03 PM PST by MassachusettsGOP

THIS TIME, it will be harder for John Kerry to have it two ways. He can't be for and against a presidential campaign. The pressure is on to choose: Will he run for president or Senate in 2008?

Kerry can't be a presidential nominee and candidate for US Senate on the November 2008 ballot -- a longshot, but still a technical possibility. The state Legislature and governor could change the law, as Connecticut once did for Senator Joe Lieberman. But that seems unlikely, and Kerry seems disinclined to find out.

Kerry adviser Ed Reilly said, "With the end of the year coming up, the senator has indicated that he will begin to turn his attention" to a decision about '08. "The first step will be consultation with Senator Kennedy and other colleagues," Reilly said.

I hope he runs for President, that way, the Senate Seat opens up here in Massachusetts, and Liveshot will be retired politically forever.

He knows the people of Massachusetts will return him to the Senate, The Presidency is a crapshoot at best and he hasnt much of a chance. he will pick the Senate.

It would be fun watching him lose both if he runs for President, I think he isnt the brightest bulb on the tree, but he isnt stupid enough for that.

This guy actually ran for Caucus Chairman for his fellow Senate Democrats and lost to Patty Murray, who was once named by a liberal publication as one of the Ten Dumbest Members of Congress. That speaks volumes about his standing among fellow Democrats.

I think he'll retire. His "botched joke" is for soldiers what "mecacca" is for Indian-Americans.

You don't think Deval and his friends at the State House would change the law for fellow lib Kerry? Then again, given the cold shoulder Kerry got from Pelosi and Schumer, maybe his national ambitions will be decided more by the DNC and Hillary than his local partners-in crime.

PS - Swiftboating (telling the truth about a candidate who falsely inflates his record) still works.

mr kerry may very well be lower on the democrat sc%mbag heirarchy than i thought. since his recent bout with hoof-in-mouth disease, he may be too radio-active to be way up there with the prima ballerinas.

so, one will adjust the score card and make him maybe number 17.

Kerry isnt well liked in all honesty, I think the State House and Deval would plot to take the seat for themselves. Afterall, every other Democratic politician in the State has been waiting for a Senate seat to open up for the last 22 years.

Kerry can't be a presidential nominee and candidate for US Senate on the November 2008 ballot --

It'll never work after he put his foot in his mouth about the soliders in Iraq. The Swift Boat episode didn't help him at all and that was based on a he said/they said scenario from people's recollections from years ago. This is way too recent.

I hope so too, but this excerp:

"US Representatives Martin Meehan and Stephen Lynch are both considered potential candidates in that scenario. Others mentioned include Joe Kennedy; Christopher Gabrieli, the venture capitalist who lost to Patrick in the primary; and former attorney general Scott Harshbarger."

looks like there is nothing diffetrent/better on the horizon!

Yup, and to hear him spin it, he served honorably and he "respects the troops".

But he hasn't really done much since Vietnam, other than marry into money twice.

Here's the problem for Senator Kerry: he's way less popular than Senator Edward Moore Kennedy.

Remember that debacle in Boston in 2004 when he made a surprise appearance at a Yankees at Red Sox game and got lustily booed?

Besides Mr Kerry already "reported for duty" and the Country said:

What would be different now? especially after his oh-so-stupid gaffe about getting "stuck in Iraq".

He is now known fully for the bonehead he really is.

Is it true that he served in Vietnam?

I thought Nixon sent him on a secret mission to investigate Cambodian prostitution rings (or something like that).

I think the syphilis he caught in the line of duty went dormant all these years but is finally gone to the tertiary stage and is rotting his brain.

p.s.
Can you get a purple heart for sticking your pecker somewhere it shouldn't be while on a secret mission?

Wait, don't answer that, I'll ask Bubba Clinton. He prolly knows the answer backwards and forwards, er, off the top of his head.

Patty Murray, who was once named by a liberal publication as one of the Ten Dumbest Members of Congress . . .

One of the ten dumbest members??????? She's way ahead of Barbara Boxer, who comes in a distant second. I don't even think the senator elects from Missouri, Minnesota and Ohio will change the order, but I'll bet that at least two of the three will make it into the top ten.

Rule Number One: Massachusetts Hack Politicans don't retire.

Maybe MA Democrats could convince him to take the retirement path of so many other MA hacks: the Mass Turnpike Authority or Massport. Can't you just see him taking tolls on the Pike? Or standing in the middle of Logan's main terminal telling people he served in Vietnam. LOL!
