A UNITED State Federal judge ordered the detention on Monday of an Ethiopian-born U.S. citizen who was arrested at Detroit's airport last week for carrying nearly $79,000 in cash and articles on suitcase bombs and the Sept. 11 attacks.
Sisayehiticha Dinssa, 34, was arrested on Nov. 14 on arrival in Detroit after a dog smelled narcotics on his cash, according to federal prosecutors who had appealed a decision for him to be released on bond as a threat and a flight risk.
Dinssa is charged with failing to declare he was bringing more than $10,000 into the United States, a crime that carries a prison sentence of up to five years.
Dinssa, an unemployed U.S. citizen who had been living in Dallas, arrived in Detroit after changing planes in Amsterdam. Prosecutors said he arrived in Amsterdam after leaving Nairobi where had been staying for several months.
U.S. prosecutors appealed a federal magistrate's decision to release Dinssa on $20,000 bond, citing files found on his laptop related to nuclear power and suicide by cyanide poisoning.
Prosecutors said agents also found Dinssa to be carrying a hand-written note that said, in part: "The community is angry. Something is going to happen. We're going to seek justice. This is a powder keg waiting to go off." It was not clear who had written the note.
Dinssa also had several printed news articles cited by prosecutors. One article discussed the risk for nuclear bombs hidden in suitcases and another marked the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, they said.

And the dems top priority isn't the war on terror,it's the minimum wage,ha!
That boy had some minimum wage!!!
Ping. We will eventually get hit again.
" When U.S. customs officials asked Dinssa in Detroit how much money he was bringing into the country, he lied and told them he had $18,000 ..."
Maybe the Feds are hoping he will disappear and they can keep the 80 grand + the bail money.
We surely will get hit again and I sure hope the dims aren't in power. There's a lot I don't like about Bush, but we're darn lucky to have him over Gore or Kerry.
Did I just go back in time cause I could have sworn I've seen this before...several times.
It could be that previous stories related his initial detection, but this one is an update which states that a judge has ruled that he can be officially detained and charged. I'm sure if he actually goes on trial that you will see other stories about it.
Duh....this guy is a terrorist!

"Dinssa, who is from Dallas, arrived in Detroit from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam and was headed for Phoenix, Feller said. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported."
