We had a

2%

shift in the House and Senate. That is about all the change we should see in our policies...

Many union contracts use the minimum wage as floor, so if the floor is raised by $2.10 an hour, everything above it goes up also.

From the Republican 45 yard line to the Democrats 48 yard line.

One play does not a mandate make.

Applies to public unions also...increase in the cost of government. This is a tax increase on everyone.

I like your method. We all should call Rangles office everyday for the next two years. Nancy's , Chuckie, Teddy etc. Express your own opinion, just keep it up.

Never mind governing the country or passing intelligent legislation. Let's make darn sure we don't cede the national spotlight.

I hope Dubya has the stuff enough to veto. He's awfully conciliatory lately and it gives me a sinking feeling.

Better get a life preserver. I don't see Bush standing up to them nor do I see him using his veto power. He feels that the people have spoken and this is what they want, so be it. Nor do I see the republicans in the house or senate doing anything other than what they usually do...roll over and play dead.

Congress, being bicameral, includes the Senate. The Churchillian notion of "doing as little as possible" applies to both chambers equally, as well as "thank Lord for it".

Oh, it was so much fun to watch the first day of the 104th Congress on CSpan!

Lame Dims trying to voice objections, and Newt steamrollering the Contract With America! Ah, the good old days.

I'd like to raise one finger to her as well.

But it wouldn't be the same finger.

There has to be a vote of the full house to make her speaker.
Imagine if the Republicians could find a few dems. She would be would out of her role.

But every labor union contract has a clause that automatically gives the contract members an equivalent hourly raise. A federal raise in the minimum wage is a gift to the unions.

I called Rangles office yesterday and said they should cut off federal funds to Yale and Harvard if they don't allow recruiters on the campus. That would be more effective than insulting the troops like Kerry does. They hung up on me.

A perfect example of liberal dialog.

Minimum wage and new ethics rules. That's it? Talk about aiming low.

Which undoubtedly will make prices go up. Is that technically inflaiton? It seems so.

Pelosi plans to start the 110th Congress with a bang on Jan. 4 -- when the House holds its ceremonial swearing in and elects her as speaker -- by immediately setting off on a sprint of several weeks to enact the Democrats' ambitious 100-hour agenda.

Somehow, that line just seems fitting as applied to Democrats. a "sprint of several weeks" to enact the "100-hour agenda".

Kind of like the "million-man march", and the "100,000 cops on the street". Words mean nothing to the left. A "100-hour agenda" should take 100 hours to enact, not "several weeks".

Hey, Nancy! Good luck getting that 100-hour agenda of yours past the Senate and Bush's veto pen.

She doesn't care if they get signed. She just wants to make it look like they are getting things through the House during the 100 WORKING hours (could take weeks or even months). They way that the press has been explaining it some might take that to mean literal 100 hours.
