Srebrenica atrocities: evidence of US complicity (BARF Alert)
http://www.greenleft.org.au/2006/691/35888 ^

For years, the role of the United States in conniving with Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic in the destruction of the Bosnian Muslim town of Srebrenica has been shrouded in mystery.

When heavily armed Bosnian Serb nationalists seized the town from Dutch United Nations “peace-keepers” in July 1995, along with expelling tens of thousands of Muslims, they led away 8000 men and boys and slaughtered them in captivity, the largest single massacre in Europe since World War II.

Now the “smoking gun” is being uncovered. Richard Holbrooke, who at the time was assistant secretary of state in the Clinton administration, recently revealed in an interview with French magazine Paris-Match that his initial instructions from US national security adviser Anthony Lake were to sacrifice the three remaining Muslim “enclaves” in East Bosnia — Srebrenica, Zepa and Gorazde — to the Serb nationalists, led by indicted war criminals General Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic.

Holbrooke claims he rejected the instructions, but in the past he has emphasised his rejection only of pressure to abandon Gorazde, leaving the question of the other two unclear — till now.

The same issue of Paris-Match also had an interview with the chief prosecutor of The Hague Yugoslav war crimes tribunal, Carla del Ponte, who claims that Western officials held a meeting with Milosevic, Karadzic and Mladic in 1995, to discuss the plans to seize Srebrenica. She said there were minutes of the meeting and that she knew the names of the officials, but was unable to use this as evidence because they refused to confirm their attendance.

Sure, tg. My point, which I didn't really clearly explain well was that the ICTY's logic doesn't make any sense at all.

Their story is that nearly all of the so called "executed" muslims gave themselves up a couple of days after the fall of the town, and they came from the second half of the column.

However, the ABiH have been telling everyone that their 28th division lost about 40% casualties on the breakthrough attempt.

( Note: I always use the term "breakout/ breakthrough" and not "fleeing" as nearly all Dhimmi press reports use. This was a highly organised military manoeuvre on behalf of the muslims that threatened the entire rear of the VRS lines and also Zvornik )

So how do the ICTY explain this 40% casualty rate IF they didn't give themselves up? Remember, it was the 2ND half of the column that was stranded and not the 28th division which made up the front of the column.

That's right, the only answer is the 28th Div lost their men through ambushes, infighting, mines, artillery, starvation, etc.

i.e. It was no war crime.

This 40% casualty rate should also be applied to the civilian section of the column ( in fact the civilian muslims suffered far worse than the Division in the ambushes, etc ).

Take 40% of the approximately 15,000 who made up the column an we come to about 6,000.

That means, the ICTY themselves account for nearly all the missing through legitimate deaths and not war crimes.

Even the ITCY's own reasoning shows that the missing were NOT killed by VRS in war crimes but died the kind of death found in any war.

["If you want to make yourself useful, "]

I'm sorry Hoplite I forgot to mention how I'm useful:

Let's see, I'm looking at my Curriculum Vitae and I see articles published where I'm FIRST author in the following journals:

Journal of the American Statistical Association
Biometrika
Psychometrika
Journal of Statistical Software
Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics
Computational Statistics and Data Analysis
Communications in Statistics-Theory and Methods
The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics
Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation

Now, I have 85 publications so, now, I think I'm making myself useful...except when I have to listen to dumb people.

You seem to think I should care about your professional and educational achievements.

I care about as much for yours as I do Vojislav Seselj's.

Which is to say they're irrelevant if you make a fool of yourself.

Kind of a funny statement from you considering you peddle your less than illustrious "military" career as some sort of credibility meter. In comparison to Ljubo's credentials, you are about as credible as OJ.

Feel free to cite the posts where I do this.

You're the one who's obsessed with my military service, not me.

Neither my prior service nor LR's academic and professional credentials have any bearing upon the subject at hand.

It does.

More specifically, it does very little good for either you or I to disparage each other. Little progress is made.

Showing you disrespect for lawyers again I see, which is especially infra dig behavior when it comes to one who so esteemed that he was invited to teach at a certain institution located in a suburb of Detroit, one so august that it only allows within its quad the most gleaming jewels of the guild, or those whom aspire to join it. For shame!

A conspiracy by Albright, Holbrook and Wesley "Slithery" Clark, to intimidate and provoke the Chinese into providing more illegal funds to the Clinton Admninistration or another Chinese Emabssy would be bombed.:~)

Let's get it right.

It's OHOWIHATEOHIOSTATE.

Or, in another way we would ask; "How do you get from Ann Arbor to Columbus?"

Answer: "Drive south until you smell it and then drive east until you step in it."
