I just have more important things to be concerned about than whether or not any store advertises "Merry Christmas", or store employee wishes me a "Merry Christmas" before I say it to them. After all, THEIR intent for wishing me anything has nothing to do with any religious meaning of the holiday, no matter which one it is.

I am offended also, that a store would wish Spanish speaking people Merry Christmas, but not their english speaking customers. I won't shop there.
Put up Happy Hannakah signs and Merry Christmas signs. I am shopping for Christmas. I enjoy the Christmas season. Happy Holidays irritates me as I feel it denigrates my faith-pretends like it just doesn't exist.

Recently entering my local grocery store, the kettle was manned by some dirty looking teenage kid who really didn’t seem to be all there. He was dancing and gyrating around like he was dancing to some hip hop song playing in his head.

LMAO...I was walking into Publix today and totally noticed the Salvation Army stand and the guy was sitting in a chair with his eyes closed..looked like he just got through 3 or 4 40 oz Old English bottles and get this...the kicker was...he was flicking the bottom of the bell with his index finger so it would make a noise!
I laughed my ass off at the sight of it. NO WAY am I putting a dime into those things. I would just as well drop a check off at the local armory.
Translation: bowing to pressure from Christmas shoppers!"...who are buying lots of gifts for friends and family this time of year, because it's Christmas, regardless of how for right, or how religious they are...how any sane merchant would wish to purposely deny Christmas at a time that all the shoppers are buying for Christmas escapes me. What idiots. And I'm speaking as a Jew.
How long do you think the practice of wishing people " Happy Holidays" has actually been common?
You may have "more important things to do" but others are more discerning in understanding the cultural landscape and the intentional redirecting of the beliefs of our civilization.
It's been going on at least 25 years, in the places I've lived. I don't remember it when I was growing up, but that was in South Mississippi, and the place was overwhelmingly Christian. Still, I remember seeing some Hannukah cards and menorahs in places because there were a few Jewish families in town.
New Jersey and Massachusetts have folks from the two major faith groups and they all shop for 'holiday' gifts at this time of year. Just makes business sense to make ALL of them fell welcome in the stores, and not give anyone the impression they're being excluded. As I said before, I usually don't even NOTICE whether or not they're advertising Merry Christmas. However, I DO prefer 'Happy Holidays' to 'Merry Xmas'!

I've seen the word Christmas on signs several times already this year. Usually there are a lot fewer of them and they are put up later in the season.
I try to avoid the stores at Christmas anyway, because folks tend to lose their minds when they're shopping for the holidays, so it's just one of those things that doesn't matter to me. There's enough commercialism as it is, I don't need for them to validate my religious celebration with advertising campaigns.
