LOS ANGELES (AP) - Two men who say they were insulted by actor-comedian Michael Richards during his racist rant at a comedy club want a personal apology and maybe some money, their lawyer said Friday.
The men, Frank McBride and Kyle Doss, said they were part of a group of about 20 people who had gathered at West Hollywood's Laugh Factory to celebrate a friend's birthday. According to their attorney, Gloria Allred, they were ordering drinks when Richards berated them for interrupting his act.

Anyone who walks into a comedy club knows that there's a good chance they could end up being insulted. I guess it's now another good place to troll for possible people/corporations to sue. McDonald's/hot coffee mentality alert.
Note to self: Don't go to loud/obnoxious places where feelings might get hurt by washed up comedian on stage who aspires to shock audience as he squelches hecklers.
Gloria Allred is as shameless as OJ. She only takes cases where she can get in front of a camera. And she has the gall to present herself as a 'champion of women's rights'. I know the woman. She's the worst kind of 'victim' chaser and a big reason lawyers have such bad reps.
Hope Richards counter-sues them for "f-g white boy" and "cracker."
The white boy needs to pay their attorney and pay them each a few thousand but it must be stipulated that if "the victims" ever say: "N****r" or "N***a" ever in their lives they have to pay the white boy back double.

When you say "President Bush" do you mean George W. Bush or George H. W. Bush?
I suspect "Bush Jr." is just being used as shorthand for George W. Bush.
In no way am I defending Richards behavior or use of the ENWURD. It was racist, plain and simple. He was attempting to publicly humiliate, belittle, and ridicule Gloria's two "innocent gentleman victims".
What the media and talking heads always ignore, was before his racist outburst, these two "gentleman" were also attempting to publicly humiliate, belittle, and ridicule Richards who was trying to do his act.
Funny how the media always conveniently edits out what the PC media call their "playful" interruptions, "playful" heckling and "playful" insults, before Richards retaliated.
It's also interesting that all of our liberal Media armchair psychiatrists, and so called black leaders and racist hypocrites, such as "Reverend" Jesse 'Hymie town' Jackson, and "Reverend" Al 'Tawana Brawley' Sharpton (whom the media treat like they're pure as the driven snow, and never challenge them about their own racist past) see Richards' racially inflammatory response, after being angered by his hecklers, as proof that deep down inside he is a racist, YET, totally ignore this also angry black male's racially inflammatory response of "Cr*cka ass white boy!", as evidence that deep down inside this black male is a racist too!

Agreed. Bottom line is that Richards could argue, however idiotic (and you can fill in the next 10-20 profane explicatives) his actions were, that he was trying to perform a comedy act.
The two guys in the audience were genuinely involved in a verbal racial assault.
Still, if this was the king's court and Richards was the jester, he would have probably lost his head already, even before he lost his mind. I've heard the guy just isn't funny. He probably reacted because the black guys were getting more laughs than he was.

I have been called so many names so many times that nothing much bothers me. I have been called an MF'er on many occasions . You cant work 25 years in a major Fire Department and not get used to these epithets. It is part of the language of the ignorant black. The better class black person would avoid this at all costs.

How many derogatory words are whites called and we are supposed to be immune. Yet Blacks consider being callled nigger by each other as a joke, or the scat language of friends,and being called nigger by a white person as a massive insult.
If blacks want to get some credibility about being offended

Whites can be annoyed, but probably little more, at being called cracker, redneck, white boy, white trash, hillbilly, or any number of things. But the reaction is hardly explosive. It's use is usually met with nothing more than silence or the occasional "KMA" and move on.
The power of the "N" word, is not held by those who say it. It is held by those who hear it. If the black community would simply stop the over-the-top reaction everytime the word is used, it would go away.
There will always be a group of people who will do whatever they can to hurt others. The insult is in the mind of those who hear it. And they can control the meaning they want to attach to it. Frankly, that is exactly what southerners did with the term "redneck," which is why it is not nearly as inflammatory as it once was or as those who would insult southern whites would like it to be.

Lesson here: never apologise to anybody whom you know will not be satisfied with a simple apology. It will be used as leverage to extract cash.
I expect Richards will pay the extortion, settle out of court, and do whatever he (they) can to save the next season of Seinfeld (which I don't watch). A caller to Rush the other day said the Seinfeld appearance on Leno with the Richards appology was a part of saving the show.
That's pathetic.
Of course, what Richards did was reprehensible, but how is throwing some money at the offended party going to change what happened that night?

Yes, the story I heard was that they heckled first. I'm not sure if it rose to the level of racist remarks, and since being heckled is an occupational hazard of being a comic, it shouldn't have provoked Richards' bizarre response. But with Glo in the mix now, it's all about money. I wonder if she will hang out to hear what Chris Rock and others have to say to their audiences; big bucks in the making.

Yes, that's my take after watching the video.
Richards was trying to be off-the-wall, outrageous and especially funny.
But it wasn't funny and the intended humorous racist act became just a racist interchange. The Kerry "joke excuse" though true wasn't usable for him.
Richards problem - particularly as a standup is that he's a poor comedy writer. He's a great comedy actor, given good writing, but without it, he's just not funny.
I stand corrected. Then again, I never watched the show.
You missed some good comedy - I expect you were watching Cal Ripken then! More good comedy (ouch)!!
