Jimmie Carter apparently believes there were Muslim Arabs already living in Roman Palestine...that is, about half a millennium before Muhammad.

I meant when the FREEP was founded (was that more than 10 years ago?)... I know Carter has been a creep since well before 1980 -- and known to most Americans as such. 1976 was just one of those fluke years that seems to cost America decades to recover from. But the Gipper put us on overdrive in Carter's case.

I take great pleasure in the fact that I pegged Carter immediately.

I remember the exact moment Carter first came into my consciousness. I was in school at the time. Was watching the news and saw him come off a plane with his suit bag over his shoulder. Recognized a fake immediately. Turned to my friends and said "what an a**hole". No one agreed with me.

I guess being an evangelical is not necessarily the magic wand to having good values. Here we have a guy with an apparent visceral dislike for Jews, or at least Zionism (which in the current sad state of affairs, is almost the same thing when it comes to Jews in Israel), and a fondness for Hugo Chavez. Sad, and disappointing really, to have a former president like Carter on the scene.

What is it about these people that love terrorist dictators so much?

Kindred spirits. Arafat wielded ruthless power to survive and prosper. They admire that.
