Did you see XNGH (could be SXNGH now, for all I know) Mike 'Smitty' Smith there? I'm his grandson. He brought in Ken '1 of 9' Hale ages ago, and Ken is the one who brought me in.

Ken got PBC'd on a Vituscan 4x4 rally, an event that was unheard of and still draws ire to this day: His initiation was nothing more than serving cold beers from a cooler while riding in air-conditioned comfort. When some Graybeards found out, there was a riotous consternation over it.

Ken is still embarrassed by the manner of his initiation to this day, though many other Clampers have assured him that he should actually brag about it openly. I tend to agree.

"When I was 17 & 18 I was a communist. Involved in protests, etc., etc. Not just a liberal. Now as conservative they come, have been since age 19. Glad I didn't self immolate at 18. So are a lot of others. You would undoubtedly have encouraged me to douse and light. Glad I did not know you.

No, I wouldn't encourage them to dose and light, that's what their peers do. I just don't care. There's a difference. They choose to support evil, I choose to defend God given freedom. If my enemies choose to destroy themselves, I have no problem with it.

a communist, involved in protests? not likely, at least in a communist country. You'd be shot or imprisoned (or both) for that. You mean you were an American socialist/communist, A marxist, believing that by establishing Communist ideals it would bring equality to people and everyone would live better. You don't really know what communism is.

My grandparents were from closed communist countries. That's what you were protesting to establish, and the death, poverty and brutal oppression that inevitably comes along with it. Now you are a pacifist, and believe that you can stop the enemy, their supporters and their ideals from advancing through kindness, forgiveness and reason. All of which are meaningless to them, a weakness in their minds.

Sometimes all that is left to do is fight. God knows this, read kings. Pacisism is applicable when living within a nation at peace.

Thompson is sublime now. I don't know if I know Smitty or not ... Kid meet Lx ... apparently a Clamper from Placerville. Tuleburg 69 / New Helvitia 5 are having a doin's on the river in Isleton next year. This is a good doins to go to as I bring up my 38 foot cigarette boat up to sleep on. Me and a few select brethren ... you included ... spend a little time during the doins tearing up the river in 90 MPH blasts in my boat ... if you're interested

You say that now I am a pacifist. You just made that up. Totally. Never was a pacifist. Never suggested I was a pacifist. I said that I was a communist and you assume that I lived in some communist country. Why would you do that. Nothing suggested that I was anything but American.
"A communist involved in protests? not likely" How silly and totally ignorant. Communist are behind protest in every Western nation. Who do you think was the major force in anti-Vietnam protests? On this I speak from experience not theory or speculation.

No, I never assumed you lived in a communist country- read again. I said you were an American, a- socialist/marxist/wanna be -communist protesting to establish comunist ideals because you believed it would make people more equal and happy.

And you are a pacifist, you never had to say it. You suggest it in so many ways.

You're welcome to join The KG9 Kid knews_hound and I at the Isleton doins in March. It's a good one. I usually come up river in my boat and dock at the public dock which is within walking distance of the doins. The widder joins me Saturday night and we tear up the Clamper Friendly town that night. One of my closest friends is the former mayor and police chief of Isleton. he's also an XNGH of Tuleburg 69. He generally has a mojor party at his house on Saturday night for redshirts and their comely widders

You're right. I am a pacifist. Why would I even try to have a discussion with someone who would call me a pacifist. Call me? Insist that I am! I "suggest it in so many ways" not just suggest it but IN SO MANY WAYS. WOW! If not taking comfort in someone's self-immolation makes me a pacifist, then I guess I am. If not finding human suffering amusing as so many here do makes me a pacifist, then I am a pacifist. But only by those pathetic criteria.
Oh, one more thing that my parents taught me: not a good idea to argue with a fool. Not very pacifist, that.

Thanks to both of you. I don't want to leave the impression that my 'hazing' was the horrible one from Forresthill since I live near Placerville. I went in at #5, very easy. When I went to the Forresthill doins, I was shocked (and glad I didn't go in that way). I can't believe there are people that try to get inititated into every chapter!

You know the old Isleton Mayor; is it chief Bird? I met him when I wanted a gun permit and he was the only sane one around. I also voted for him for Sacramento chief. I'd like to go in March, sounds like fun. There wouldn't be any alcohol consumption going on would there? That would be wrong.

I remember that every California governor but one or two who I forget were Clampers, anyone remember the exceptions?

Eugene Bird was Police Chief several years ago. My buddy was after him. He is a former too. When and what doin's did you go in at? I shared hangman duties with the guy from 5 for a couple of years back in 97 and 98. I was Humbug of Branciforte 1797 Santa Cruz in 2000. BTW ... you could always re-tread LSD 3 at Forest Hill ... if you're crazy enough. As far as libations ... we only indulge before and after the Bible class on Sunday morning ... ;<)

BTW both Pat Brown and Moonbeam are Clampers out of Estanesleo 58 as is Gary Condit. Ronald Reagan was a clamper out of Platrix #2. Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood also came in Platrix #2 at the Catalina doins many years ago.

"Nope. The pain begins after the shock/adrenalin wears off. (about an hour) Then they are usually put in a drug induced coma."

Nope?

First you disagree, then you make the same point I did. So I guess we are both right about very serious burn victims being essentially knocked out in order to treat them without causing horrific pain. You are just more right than I am.

You feel pain from minor wounds, a broken arm or leg, things that don't overload your sensory system. But when people suffer from severe wounds, they don't feel much pain at all because the brain blocks it, it shuts down the pain sensing region in the brain somehow, and puts the body in shock by releasing a load of adrenalin. When it wears off you sure feel pain, and if it's too much your brain will put you in a coma as well.

The explanation for this phenomenon is pretty evident: Back in our caveman days, if you got attacked by a sabre-toother tiger, it helped if you didn't feel the pain while you were running away. Once you were out of immediate danger pain's purpose is to remind us that something needs to be attended too.

Even back then guys
had to be tough and couldn't
cry when their girlfriend's

cats got playful and
started scratching and biting.
Man's role hasn't changed . . .

I have been busy actually.

Work is my busiest season and hobbies and the family are a whole other issue.

On the plus side, Rush read one of my columns on the air, which was pretty cool, I sold the Buick (yeahhh), and am in the market for another project.

I was serious about keeping me in the loop for the doins BTW.

Cheers,
