"War protesters are hailing him as a martyr." Are they going to build him a tomb and call it- "the tomb of the unnoticed protester"?
He's no martyr by any stretch of the term. He's just an idiot. Seems he thought about everything, last words, instructions to family etc. Everything except notify media so he could at least get noticed.

A couple months ago there was a thread about a protestant monk who set himself on fire in protest of islam. His act generated at least some sympathy here. My take on either one is the same. Self-destruction just to "make a point" is always evil, regardless of the cause. There is no virtue in it at all.
There is virtue in laying down your life for another, but that was not the case here or in the other thread.

"A member of Mensa who claimed to be able to recite the infinite number Pi to more than 1,000 decimal places," Except that pi is not an infinite number. It is an irrational number with infinite expansion.
Let's just get that straight, as long as they are invoking Mensa as somehow relevant to this pathetic legacy of a man called "Malachi".

A scientifically inspired victim of the gillotene (sp?) had someone count his blinks after he lost his head. It added up to 13.

I carry a Mensa card too. But instead of memorizing Pi ... I have memorized all the US presidents, vice presidents, California governers and their order number (ei Grover Cleveland was president numbers 22 and 24). I find that information lots more useful as a past president of a historical society ... (Clampers)

At the stake yes. They didn't want to become toast. The ones like this dude are probably more ready for it and aren't going to scream. The Buddhist Monks and Nuns seemed to be in a stoic Zen from all accounts of witnesses I've ever seen or heard.

The MSM lied...
Protesters died.

Big deal. I know all the lines from Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.
Yea, when my son was two, he could look at NASCAR matchbox cars and tell me the drivers names. About 40 of them with no mistakes.

If someone actually bothers to join Mensa, it is a pretty good indicator that they are crazy, a loser or both. You forgot extremely good looking ... ;<)

At some point, Mark David decided to change his own name to his son's name and legally became Malachi Ritscher just like his son. Wouldn't it be a hoot if his son changed his name to "Mark David" at that point? If I were abandoned and some loser showed up thirty years later to take on my name, you bet that is what I would do!

War protesters are hailing him as a martyr. It figures. If he was so smart he should have looked up the definition of martyr before dousing himself gas. I think he is just using all this as a reason to kill himself. He was mentally ill and stupid not a martyr.

"I'm having trouble figuring out who is father and son in this article--doesn't it say his dad is only 35?"
His real name is Michael, but for some warped reason, he took his son't name a few years back -- probably after a long go around with a 1/2 gallon of Jack Daniels.

hahahah, fine his estate for pollution? yes, it's perfect. Of all the actions he could have chosen to make the world better, turning himself into ashes was certainly the most insignificant.
