EXCLUSIVE: Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia
ABC News ^ | November 30 2006 | JONATHAN KARL AND MARTIN CLANCY

Posted on 11/30/2006 8:19:10 AM PST by jmc1969

U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.

Iranian-made munitions found in Iraq include advanced IEDs designed to pierce armor and anti-tank weapons. U.S. intelligence believes the weapons have been supplied to Iraq's growing Shia militias from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which is also believed to be training Iraqi militia fighters in Iran.

Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah.

Two senior U.S. defense officials confirmed to ABC News earlier reports that fighters from the Mahdi army have traveled to Lebanon to receive training from Hezbollah.

While the New York Times reported that as many as 2,000 Iraqi militia fighters had received training in Lebanon, one of the senior officials said he believed the number was "closer to 1,000." Officials say a much smaller number of Hezbollah fighters have also traveled through Syria and into Iraq to provide training.

The way I figure it, the world already views Bush as the Devil and America as a fascist, over-bearing, colonizing country. Let's just BE that country and show the world what America would be like if we WERE a fascist, over-bearing, colonizing country with a Devil as its leader. Oh, and immediately sanction ourselves from sending financial aid to ANYONE.

I fear the Bush legacy will be that he led us into a war of "planting Democracy" in the Islamic world, before we had plowed under the Islamists who lived on the land. Far too few Islamists were destroyed and the Islamic world surrounding Afghanistan and Iraq have been freely participating in fighting the "coalition" without paying a price for that action. His early insistence that "Islam is a religion of peace" was his first error..

Perhaps his greatest success was turning Afghanistan and Iraq into the world's greatest killing field for Islamists - attracting Jihadists from around to world to their death -- and providing the arena for Islamists to kill one another in the struggle of Shiites against Sunnis.

The enemy is militant Islam, not terrorism.
The enemy is ANY nation who supports, celebrates or encourages the Islamic terrorists.

It remains my opinion we have been far too restrained in delivering the level of destruction necessary to defeat or punish the enemy.

This enemy will not be so inclined.
By now we should have learned that militant Islamics negotiate "peace" only to survive in order to rebuild strength to attack again... It has always been so.

For me, the high point of the Carter "Presidency" was when he beat Teddy Kennedy for the 1980 nomination. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Now, why doesn't this surprise me?

We've got to go on a media blitz before the Air Force blitz. Our military should put it on display and invite the press, including al Jezzera, to see it.

Of course, some of the MSM reporters will call in sick with diarrhea and whoever attends will get real diarrhea!

Take a deep breath and think about this....

Maybe they are supplying arms/explosives to the Shii'as *because* we are doing a pretty good job of destablization in Iran.

The KDP has been raising Cain all over the northern Iraq/Iran AO. Who is paying for it remains to be seen.

Anyone care to theorize what would be happening in Iraq and/or U.S. right now if the U.S. had never gone into Iraq and Saddam was still in power?

When you have a chance the paper below is worth reading. The U.S. is still in good shape:

The US is fighting groups armed by Iran and trained by Hezbollah (backed by Syria and Iran).

Now forget that you know.

Because if it rattles inside your head, your blood pressure will go up, you will get anxious, and you will want to scream at an Administration that will allow the US to be defeated by these barbarians.

An Administration that asked Israel for restraint fighting Hezbollah and finally saved Hezbollah by agreeing to a French/Arab cease fire which allows Hezbolla to get back to its main current interest- training terrorists to kill Americans in Iraq.

An Administration that has been threatening Iran for years but throws carrots at them on bended knee begging them to stop their nuclear development. Getting from the Iranians deserved contempt in return.

What concerns the US? These arms and the training that's killing Americans? No. What concerns Rice today is that Israel should do more to help the terrorists. That Israeli security is humiliating to the terrorists.

Many will blame the election and the Democrats. What has Bush done for the previous three years? Sure, he sent Karen Hughes to explain to them why they should like us. But that didn't seem to take.

You don't want to believe it, neither do I. We are going to lose. Israel is going to lose too- having already lost their minds.

There is no winning unless- at a start- Iran and Syria are taken on. If you believe they will be- I hope you are right.

If there is any chance of for some sort of American success in Iraq, and elsewhere, it will start with Bush firing appeaser Rice and publicly throwing the Baker report into the garbage. And then go to war against those Nations- not just shadowy terrorists but named nations- at war with us.

Either we win or they win. They win if it's a draw.

big question is what will the US do about it, publicly or otherwise?

Any full scale war with Iran would be foolhardly, and would undercut the sizable anti-Immamist elements in Iran, but I don't think the antigovernment protesters would have much problem with our taking out a few Revolutionary Guard bases near the border. As a warning we might take out just one base, but task a freakin' wing of B-2s and blanket the sucker with bombs so that not even a cockroach remains alive.

Just a thought.

Since we're fighting Iran, we might as well fight Iran.

Come on, Pres. Bush, do the right thing. If Iran is killing us, they have blood-guilt.

Continued thwarting of "inspections," by Saddam would make the headlines, and Iran would be flying under the radar, probably already with a Nuke. We would still be based in the "holy land" Saudi Arabia, acting as the best propaganda tool available to Al Queda. We might have been struck again here at home, as Al Queda would not be pre-occupied with fighting in Iraq. We would not be in Iraq, in position to pounce on Iran or Syria if need be. Democrats would be bellowing about how we lost our opportunity to take out Saddam when we had the chance.

It appears she is willing to wear a burqa on this one.

Oh, forgot to add: Israel might have taken out Saddam itself by now, after Saddam lends increasing support to Hezbollah and Hamas.
