PORTLAND - Police from San Francisco and Oregon were looking for information on a family missing since the Thanksgiving weekend that was last seen in Portland.
S.F. detectives said James Kim, his wife Kati, and their young children, 4-year-old Penelope and 7-month-old Sabine, took a trip to Seattle for the holiday.
They were supposed to return home on Tuesday, but co-workers became concerned Wednesday when the couple did not show up for appointments.
Resources Co-workers create Web site to help family On Thursday Portland Police issued a bulletin to officers throughout the I-5 corridor and agencies on the Coast with information in the case.
James Kim is a senior editor at CNET and hosts the web site's popular Crave blog. Police said friends and family knew them to usually keep in daily contact.
According to Det. Angela Martin of the San Francisco Police Dept., the family had lunch with a friend in Portland on Saturday between 2-3 p.m., then left to travel to Gold Beach on the southern Oregon Coast.

According to San Francisco Police, the family made two phone calls to a Gold Beach hotel that afternoon, the second call at 5:45 p.m. On that second call, the family reportedly asked the hotel clerk to leave a key outside since they would be arriving late that night. Portland investigators said they thought the family did leave the Portland area.
That phone call was the last reported contact with the family. The Gold Beach hotel did leave keys out for the Kim Family but the keys were still there the next morning.
According to the Kim's cellular phone provider, the phone was last used after the lunch in Portland. Calls to the Kim's cell phone later Saturday went straight to voice mail.

The Kims were driving a 2005 silver Saab station wagon (similar to car pictured, left) with California personalized plates of DOESF.

Anyone who watched the Seahawks game Sunday knows the weather was uncharacteristically snowy for the Seattle area. Prayers for them.

Think we need prayers on this one....

Um...what's with THAT???!!!
Thanks for the alert, fieldmarchaldj!
My plea to truckers has been pulled (I don't know why). It seems heartless, when this family is missing.
If any of you know of a truckers thread pls let me know and I will ping the person who handles it.
Please post your replies to paulat
paulat, My prayers going up for this family and all who worry about them. God's protection for the family...God's comfort for their friends and family.
Blessings,
trussell
If you want on/off my prayer ping list, please let me know. All requests happily honored.
Thank you, so much, trussell!!!
My pleasure. Thank you for letting me know.
I'm very worried for them. By now it seems one of them should have made it to a phone.
Prayers for their safe return.
Me, too. They seem like very loyal business types...and with the babies, this is just sooo bad!
Agreed. This is very sad.
I'm going back and forth to the garage looking at my Saab 9-5 SE Wagon and comparing to this photograph. Close, but I have to say that is NOT a Saab 9-5 Wagon pictured. Perhaps it is a Saturn in the photo, I don't know, but the Saab is longer with a straighter roof line and the configuration of the lights front and rear is different than pictured. Both are GM cars.
That's what disturbs me the most-- I have 2 toddlers & a 4 month old and I can't imagine what I'd do when the food ran out if we were trapped in the snow. I could barely cope with a 4-hour power outage the other day.

If you know of any truckers, the family's license plate is (CA plates), DOE - SF
Thanks for checking, rockingsranch! I'm sure you are right...I just took the pics off the website. I hope they are close enough, though....
And, thanks especially for your ping to truckers!
The basic lines are quite similar, but the auto shown in the picture posted is shorter with an arched appearance instead of linear, and a different configuration of front and rear light design. At least by profile. We are Saab nuts, have 3 of 'em, so probably being too picky.
Lord, we pray that you help this family make contact. We pray that you keep them safe.
No...don't say that! Keep monitoring...maybe the police could use your info?
Our prayers for the family.
Thank you, glock.
I join in prayer for this family!
Thank you, Glock and BG!!!
Since we (and others) have been so persistent, KING5 is now leading with the story.
Hope to God everything will work out.
FYI...glock has a good update in #33.
I join you in prayer; may they see the Hand of God, and may He safely lead them home...
In Christ's name, I pray it.
Does anyone knwo this stretch of road? Any steep drop-offs or cliffs?
I don't know Oregon, I'm sorry to say....
Lord, please protect this family from harm and injury. Send Your angels ...
Prayers up, BG.
prayer bump . .
On the road, a family vanishes
Part of the problem is that no one knew what route the Kims were taking from Portland to Gold Beach. Dinsmore said there are a number of routes, and some of them that reach 4,000 feet elevation in Curry County can be treacherous. With dips and crests along the winding roads, it would be easy for someone to lose control and drive off the shoulder, police said.
I pray for them.
BTTT
Prayers for the family to be found, safe, soon.
The KRON website has a map. The search is over a huge area ... no wonder they're having jurisdictional problems. And I am under the impression that this area is still under ice and snow.
This area doesn't remain snowbound all winter, does it?
Prayers for this family!
Carolyn
Prayers that this family is safe and is found quickly.
I don't believe so. That would have to be at the much higher elevations.
It's been decades since I've been along the Oregon coast. Beautiful in the summer. The article mentioned they were searching along routes leading from I-5 to the coast. That makes sense. It is a hugh area and without any idea which route they would have taken, a formidable task under the best conditions.
Amen.
