Instead of anglophone Paul Martin, Canadians now get francophone Dion! This still doesn't solve the Liberals' Western problem.

The people around him don't look too happy.
Actually, apart from the press, they look drugged.

Alert!
It has come to light that Canada has amassed 90%...90%!.. of its population within 100 miles of the U.S. Border!
Makes you wonder what their up to, hovering over us.
As a war time measure, I suggest we station a troop of boy scouts along the border, to stop any army coming south! (The Boy Scouts, when asked by the Canadian army if they could please come in, would not answer AND EVEN TURN THEIR BACK TO THEM! Such an insult would cause the army to lose heart and go into therapy)

"The current record for longest range sniper kill is 2,430 meters (7,972 feet), accomplished by a Canadian sniper, Corporal Rob Furlong, of the third battalion Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), during the invasion of Afghanistan, using a .50 BMG (12.7 mm) McMillan bolt-action rifle. This meant that the round had a flight time of four seconds, and a drop of 78.4 meters (257 feet). The previous record was held by Carlos Hathcock, achieved during the Vietnam War, at a distance of 2,250 meters. Hathcock was also famous for his 93 confirmed kills during the Vietnam conflict."

Damn fine shooting!
My light hearted attempt humour at Canada's expense was only to point out that Anti American attitudes have become de rigour for most politicians of other countries.
WHY?

Sorry, I didn't know whether or not you were kidding. Although, since I wasn't certain, I did respond with something you could also take more than one way.
Not only Canadians but, all non-American FReepers are obviously friends of America or we wouldn't be here.
Plus, all or most of us consistently take pro-U.S. positions whenever the issue comes up in our home countries.
So, it's extremely frustrating - to say the least! - to then be insulted over & over & have our nations demeaned & disparaged on thread after thread on this forum.
As a recent example,
here is an - in fairness, American - article posted on FR which is pro Canada, Canadians and especially our Military.
In the 2nd (!) comment on the thread it's whined America has "NO true friends" and then roughly 1/4 of the subsequent 80+ vilify Canada & other nations which are quite plainly her friends & allies.
Again sorry but, I'm fed up with this crap & that's why I somewhat snapped at you. BTW, should I be reading anything into your non-U.S. spelling of "humor" with a superfluous "U" up above?

I have know many Canadians who were great people. We just agreed that we disagree about politics and did not talk politics. Fun people. Plus traveling to Florida during the winter and you see as many Canadian license plates as you would almost any where in Canada ( or so its seems).
BTW, the reference to Canada amassing 90% of its population... came from the movie Canadian Bacon, with more than a few great Canadian actors in it. Including the late, beloved John Candy.

Also, it was a reference to Canadians being so polite. I have know many Canadians. Many in the Canadian Air Force, flown on their C-130s, (during 2003 in the 'Persian Gulf' area,) briefed commanders and crews and I have found them no more or less friendly than down here.
Still, if your going to known for something, being too polite is one heck of a thing to be know for!

No sir. You are incorrect with this statement but close to the right answer. It is the famous army in France that would ask that question but they would just roll over and hand all the weapons to the scouts.
I was, at one time, in the Canadian Army. The military personnel are just like their counterparts in the states. They know right from wrong but are stuck answering and following the rules the politicians have laid out to them.

I've often told FRiends Stateside Canada's somewhat like New York State:
Once past most of the urban areas of either one, both are chock-full of decent, 'normal' people.
BTW, another reason I get so steamed about xenophobes bashing ALL Canadians is its insult to the countless families with branches on both sides of the border
Both my wife & I have American cousins who've served in your armed forces, and honestly appreciate their service no less than family members who've been in Canada's military.
Plus, some of these idiots might be surprised.
As example, if it's strictly based upon provable ancestry, my daughter would easily qualify (through her maternal side) for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as those of the Confederacy.

Yes of course!
I am sorry if I placed and idea in your mind that the Canadian army was in any way like the European Embarrassment.\
I have worked with the Canadian Air Force in the Persian Gulf. Real pros. Great at 'work a rounds' to support our mission. Everything legal, of course. (Barely. Just don't look to close at the fine print!)
