Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

A tribute of my own...

Perhaps, it is more of a compendium of what others have done. This thread being a tribute to Terri on her birthday and in this season of Christmas, I remind if you have not seen it yet, to review the words written by Monsignor Thaddeus Malanowski, Terri's priest, which are repeated just above in T'wit's post #159. This special letter was written by Monsignor to us for our thread.

I would love to extoll the virtues and accomplishments of this great priest who courageously stared death in the face, but others can do a far better job than I.

It is no surprise that detractors would arrive on this thread in hopes of disrupting and changing its direction. They have flailed against us many times in the past both here and from the far left in the media as they continued their struggle to mimimize the effect Terri's Legacy. The redoubled efforts of the far left during the recent elections, for those who notice, saturated the media with attempts to neutralize that legacy. For that legacy has dulled their efforts to make euthanasia acceptable. Monsignor saw the same faces at Pinellas Park and would recognize them here and in the media as well.

At Pinellas Park, the few detractors did what they could to derail attention, to aggravate, and disrupt, but it didn't succeed there as they found themselves surrounded by a greater force of good will. I am sure Monsignor would invite us to look beyond those same types clamoring to gag us here and in the media and to focus on the Gift brought by Terri to us all of good will.

It is a thankless job if we expect material reward on earth as some would have us believe. Our thanks here on earth is more likely to come in the form of attacks on our senses, and effort to break down our resolve. But Monsignor would have us look beyond that.

I invite you all to read the tribute by Bykrbayb on #45. In it, she reminds us of Sophie Scholl, a role model for those of us staring in the face of those who would have us dead.

It would be a welcome site for others of Terri's List to post your own tributes.

We are unabashed pro-life conservatives keeping in the spirit of FreeRepublic as we persevere. Terri must be watching from above as we confront those forces who assaulted her as we continue.

I would hope for Terri to smile on our efforts and see that we not squander her great Gift.

Look what's out in DVD! I am not hustling for this particular merchant, who happened to be at hand (courtesy of a googling). I DO recommend seeing this movie. It is absolutely stunning. Julia Jentsch, as Sophie Scholl, is beyond praise.

In Hillsdale Michigan several years ago Dave Davis poisoned his wife with a strong muscle relaxant by needle. He said she fell off her horse and struck her head and died. The parents never bought the story. A California pathologist discovered a way to prove the medication, which breaks down within minutes, had been administered. Davis was brought back from some foreign country and tried. He is serving life in prison here.

The incident of Terri Shivo and Davis wife having heart stoppage for several minutes has a strange similarity. You can find Davis at Michigan OTIS, then look up his name.

Not to butt in , but this case you are talking about was on Forensic Files some time ago. The drug was aceytal choline if I remember. Might be a good comparison. I think the drug was available to him because it was used for the horses.

I don't. There's nothing wrong with it. It's standard practice. Are you just objecting because you don't like the Schindlers?

"Traded on"? Don't twist words. The Schindlers were fighting to save Terri's life. For this they deserve nothing but praise, including yours. If it were your daughter, would you consider it "trading" to raise funds to save her? Of course not. Would it be "trading" to raise funds for your daughter's memorial foundation? Of course not. So use the same principle when you speak of the Schindlers.

I hardly need remind you that Michael Schiavo spent nearly half a million dollars of Terri's money to hire lawyers to kill her. The money was taken from funds held in trust for Terri's therapy. The Schindlers had no such treasure. They raised such funds as they could to save Terri's life. It was the right thing to do. It's just too bad that despite their efforts, Terri was put to death.

Here is the striking similarity. If Carla Sauer Iyer's sworn testimony be true, Michael tried as many as five times to poison Terri with insulin. Carla, the duty nurse, found Terri hysterical and suffering extreme hypoglycemia after Michael's visits, and had to give her glucose in a hurry. Carla observed needle marks on Terri's body and once found a used insulin ampule in the trash.

These incidents occurred soon after Terri was awarded more than a million dollars for therapy in a malpractice suit. If she had died, Michael would have inherited the money, no strings attached. Does that suggest a motive? :-) Hint: The nurses quoted him often saying things like, "Isn't that b*tch dead yet?" and "I'm gonna be rich!"

Terri's heart stoppage in 1990 is officially unexplained, but we can rule out poisons at that time, I believe. To judge from her bloodwork and other indications, it was something else, most like violence leading to "positional asphyxiation." The victim is in such an awkward physical position, or so squished down, that he or she cannot breathe. If the pressure is not relieved very quickly, the victim goes into cardiac arrest and soon dies.

Absolutely! What you fail to mention is that all the kind people who already gave are now subjected to any telemarketer who pays the Schindlers' price. Schindlers got the money upfront from the donors to save their daughter, they then sold off the names in an effort to squeeze a little more out of the them. Now that Terri is gone it's pure scam. Seen any tax returns from the Schindlers? Any accounting on the foundation finances?
