Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Is this a topic that never ends...?
I for one say "never again" to this kind of killing.
No, it never ends, is expanding as the euthanasia crowd push their craft and the far left invokes Terri continually. The far left calls for us to MoveOn, but still brings up her Legacy regularly, usually to justify advancement of the euthanasia agenda.
They celebrated with a birthday cake and a cookout, some traveling from as far as Iowa and Nebraska. A priest prayed for her and a musician who has written songs in her honor traveled from California to perform.
For those strangers gathered with her family, the event caps another remarkable year of legal wrangling that has kept Schiavo, severely brain damaged since 1990, alive and at the center of a fierce court battle.
Cheryl Ford, a former nurse turned Schiavo activist who organized the party, the fight for Terri Schiavo has a larger implications for the rights of the disabled.

It (the thread) just showed up in the "news" forum...Don't see it as news, that is why I was wondering what the reason for it being in that forum...
Today is Terri's birthday.
And therein is the key to this whole story. How did a healthy young woman, almost surely asleep, end up face down on a hallway floor, in cardiac arrest and near death, shortly after her husband came home late on a Saturday night? Why did her blood tests show lactic acidosis (caused by extreme exertion in the absence of oxygen)? Why did the only witness, Michael, lie to police about everything being fine between them when he and Terri had had a terrible row that very day?
These questions will be answered, perhaps sooner than later. Many people are keeping dirty little secrets. How long before one of them breaks?
Ultimately, her husband ordered her feeding tube removed, and she died. Some, including the Vatican, likened her death to murder.
"I don't think I have any right as a Catholic to say when my life should end," Kelly said. "I don't think I have a right to take my own life, a right to take anyone else's life, and I certainly don't want anyone taking my own life."

It is best that this topic never ends. Court sanctioned killing is a topic that looms ahead for everyone!
My, isn't that a coincidence? Today is also the birthday of:

Happy birthday, all.

I'm one Terri warrior who'll never forget this precious
life snuffed out, before her time.
My BD was yesterday and I can't stop thinking how Terri should be showered
today with love and be sung to, kissed and surrounded
by cards from the thousands and millions around the world,
who fought for her life!
"The care of human life and happiness and not its destruction, is the chief and only object of good government."

This thread is proof that the far Left isn't the only group using this case to push an agenda.
Thank you, you beat me to it.
Yes, sure that's what you meant all along!!!!!!!
Does anyone know if Terri was pain responsive before the feeding tubes were removed?
An uncomfortable reminder that even people who call themselves conservative are sometimes willing to give the government more power, so long as they think it serves their agenda.
This is exactly the point the left pushes in their efforts to bend the Legacy left by Terri. We have illustrated this many times. Check them out.
Yes, she was, but I defer to the more informed for the details.
She screamed at the time they were removed.
Do any of us really die before our time?
The topic will never end because the Schindlers are using it to make a living. Now the big money draw is for a new autopsy. She's been cremated but through mysteriously appearing documents and rewriting history the Schindlers are engaged in a fundraising scheme for this supposed purpose. The Schindlers' Terri foundation is not tax exempt or a non profit so they are not legally obligated to actually perform any task that they use to procure donations. The overhead (their living expenses) gets paid first.
I believe Mr. Schaivo's settlement bucks for taking care of Terri were running out. The Schindlers didn't need money, they offered to let Michael let them care for her. I don't blame them at all for seeking justice for Terri. Why is it that victims families are always the bad guy? Same as the families of Ojs victims? None of them are poor and destitute. Legality is not morality. This is a case where legality was given and morality was forgotten.
Government needs to be limited but it must protect life and property and that means lives like Terri's.
Libertarians for Murder doesn't sound like the name of an organization anyone would want to be a member of. I think I have it right here.
Do you have a point of view about "hate crime" laws, anti-smoking laws and anti-trans fat laws? I think that's where government power needs to be curbed.
Also, what about eminent domain land seizure and land use laws that restrict the "pursuit of happiness" in the name of preventing development.
There again is government that is too big.
Lets go after those problems. How about it?
Dear Terri,
If you had any idea the attention that was drawn to you during the last couple years of your life, and continues unabated, it would have been very confusing to you. Youd have wondered what you could have possibly done to draw so much love, and so much hatred, from people you never knew. It had little to do with anything you did, or didnt do. It was about who you were, and what you represented. You were one of Gods children, and you came to represent innocence, purity, and the grace of God.
We see the hand of God every day. In a rainbow, a bird in flight, or a white rose covered in morning dew. When we look into the eyes of an innocent, trusting child, we see God. When we hear Where there is life, there is hope, we recognize the voice of God. When we hear someone begging, with great difficulty, for us to let them live, we feel the hand of God pushing us to help them. The presence of God brings comfort to His followers, and bathes us in love. But it strikes great fear in the cold hearts of Satans minions, and fuels their hatred.
Those who banded together to kill you, didnt just want to kill a woman. They wanted to kill truth, innocence, justice, and God. Whenever theyve witnessed the truth being told, theyve tried to silence it. But we will not be silent.
The battle we fought along side you, and continue to fight today, has been fought before. It consumed entire nations, and brought governments to their knees. It wiped out countless lives. We swore wed never forget, but many of us have. Even the children and grandchildren of many of the victims have forgotten. They become enraged when confronted with the fact that The Holocaust included the very euthanasia they now impose on their own family members. But some of us have not forgotten. So the battle rages anew.
We learned many hard lessons over the course of your extermination. Although those lessons were painful, many of them have been invaluable. Weve used those lessons to save others from the terrible fate you suffered.
When you died, I was ready to give up the fight. There didnt seem to be any point in continuing a losing battle. But it was brought to my attention that a woman in Georgia was about to be starved and dehydrated to death. She needed help, and she needed it fast. I couldnt turn my back. I joined with countless others in voicing our objections. Loudly! Because of the lessons we learned during your fight for life, we knew who to contact, how to contact them, what to say, and what not to say. And it worked! We had won our first victory in your name. And weve won a few battles since then, with a couple of them still ongoing. We expect to win those too.
Those who worked toward securing your murder, have worked toward securing similar murders. It was never just about you. It was about their hatred for God, and lust for murder. There continue to be many euthanasia-style murders, committed quietly, away from public scrutiny. But sometimes, someone shines a light, and Satans followers scatter like cockroaches. And that light is being shown brighter and more often. As more people see that light, they shine another light on another pending murder. The light gets brighter, and brighter.
Ive lost count of the number of precious lives that have been saved since your murder. If wed never heard of you, we probably wouldnt have heard of them either. They would have been murdered, without as much as a peep from the media. There would have been no public outcry. No one to come to their defense. But we did hear. We made ourselves heard. And lives were saved. So many miracles have come out of your tragedy.
Forced euthanasia is nothing new, but widespread awareness of it is new. That awareness was your gift to us. Our gift to you is what we do with it. We continue to save lives, in your honor.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TERRI !!!

We are your bad conscience.
The White Rose will give you no rest."

Good Lord!
