Lauds liberal viewpoint (THE TRUTH HURTS LAUGH ALERT)
Star Newspapers (Chicago) letter to the editor ^ | December 3, 2006 | Martha Burke Tressler

Posted on 12/03/2006 8:41:28 AM PST by Chi-townChief

Thank you for publishing Paula Morris' guest column (The Star, Nov. 30). Make her a regular, please. Her articulate statement of the liberal position made this almost 72-year-old crone jump up and down and yell. (My dog thinks I'm demented but he has lots of company).

Ms. Morris is correct about the backlash. It can be vicious. As I drive to my office each day I pass a building with a sign in flashing light bulbs which has the statement ever since the mid-term election, "al-Qaida celebrates!"

Whoever is behind it has a right to his or her opinion but we who don't agree have a right to express ours without being labeled traitors.

I laud Ms. Morris for her column and The Star for publishing it. I don't know Ms. Morris but if the current administration has it's way, we may be in adjoining cells at Gitmo before long.

You have to wonder why this old lefty wench thinks the al-Qaida sign (which is right on) is labelling her as a "traitor" personally. Guilty conscience, I guess.

Here's the Paula Morris this "lady" is referring to >>> http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1746414/posts

The old lefty wench is a fully indoctrinated liberal. While liberals have many and varied opinions on a multitude of subjects, asking them challenging questions about their opinions produces a non-substantative response.

It truly amazes and amuses me to find the liberals are programmed for guilt on a multitude of subjects.

She is likely an old liberal BLOND crone.

What doesn't compute?

Cut and Run = Traitor

Cut and run does not = we have a right to express our opinion. This action used to get you shot in the a$$ for cowardly conduct, so a sign making you feel guilty, crone, is a poor substitute.

Yep, my guess is definitely blond.

(My dog thinks I'm demented but he has lots of company).

With the publication of this letter, especially on FR, your dog has a lot more. Next time, let HIM do the writing.

"al-Qaida celebrates!"

This is just silly. Whoever made this sign forgot about Hamas, Kim Song Il, and the ghosts of Lenin, Marx, and Ayatollah Khomeini.

Whoever is behind it has a right to his or her opinion but we who don't agree have a right to express ours without being labeled traitors.

No, you don't. See, that concept of "free expression" works both ways. If you are free to label the president a Nazi, then we are free to label you an addlepated, mush-headed, bead-stringing, Woodstock refugee loonbiscuit. Quid pro quo.

if the current administration has it's way, we may be in adjoining cells at Gitmo before long.

I don't think Gitmo has a psych ward.

Ain't it the truth?

I had a discussion once with my friend's mother on the subject of abortion. I asked her a series of sincere questions about her opinions in order to get to the crux of our disagreement. Her answers were vague and non-substantive, so I continued to narrow the argument down further to its basic elements. When I finally narrowed it down to: "Is this thing I am holding in my hand (a fork) a metal object", she replied: "I don't know". I commented that if she doesn't know if it is a metal object, then she can't know anything, she exploded and stormed out of the room.

I wasn't invited over again for three years.

... made this almost 72-year-old crone jump up and down and yell.

The mental picture I'm getting here is definitely not an attractive one.

I know a very annoying, 70-something, militant lefty old crone who could have easily written the same letter. Wears a variety of third world cultural jewelry & clothing. Spends Christmas meditating in Sedona, belongs to a drumming circle, practices reiki, and regularly walks the labyrinth she constructed in her yard. Has moped around looking like her dog just died ever since George W. Bush's election in 2000.

My mother knew this lady in college, where the woman was a sociology/anthropology major. Even at that age, the lady was about as attractive as Margaret Mead; now she's even less so.

Best advice with an old moonbat like this: if you can't completely avoid her, never EVER look her in the eye, or you will be on the receiving end of her rabid Bush derangement syndrome.

Tired of distractions

November 26, 2006

Oh please! Our country is fighting two wars and is on the brink of two more. We have a president who can't utter a coherent sentence no matter how hard he tries. And your new conservative columnist is concerned over gay marriage. Can't the neocons ever get over guns and gays?

More than 2,000 of our young people have died in Iraq alone. Our civil rights and Constitution have been demolished by Bush and his neocon sycophants and all Fran Eaton can worry about is gay marriage.

I'm a heterosexual who was married for 27 years and I've been widowed for 24. I still can't figure out how my marriage would have been threatened by allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. Actually, if society benefits from stable heterosexual marriage -- and prevailing wisdom says it does -- why would it not benefit from stable homosexual marriage? Has anyone ever been able to answer that one?

When one has no answer to the real questions, when the real issues defy answers, the only solution is distraction. Hence the demonizing of gays and lesbians. The problem is that gays and lesbians are real living, breathing human beings with real emotions. One can only imagine the anguish they feel as they read and hear the neocon dreck.

I have a similarly "feeling" loony left friend, and in my limited understanding, this worldview is attributable to pride. Tremendous, blinding pride, where she truly believes she is above human nature (i.e., give peace a chance, etc.) and, beyond all logic, refuses to see what history & current events show us about human behavior and the actual chances (not to mention price-tag) peace has. Not unrelated, this friend has fallen for several scams and pyramid schemes in the decade plus I've known her, learning apparently nothing, although in many other ways she is very smart. Pride is literally blinding.

Don't even equate modern liberals with the like of Benedict Arnold! That is insulting to Arnold. :^)

Arnold was once a dedicated patriot who made some sad mistakes, but he at least, was once a patriot. - liberals are nothing of this sort:

after the boston massacre

"good God; are the Americans all asleep and tamely giving up their liberties, or are they all turned philosophers, that they don't take immediate vengeance on such miscreants".

"traitor"

Dems and libs not only never contemplate the fact that islamo-fascists are glad they won but many other things. Do they ever ponder the fact that Al Sharpton was a Dem prez candidate? Michael Moore wants us to lose in Iraq? All the leading Dems said that Hussein had wmds (which he did), but now they deny they ever said those things...making them egregious liars? Dems and libs never think about a lot of things.

No you don't, you demented old bat. You do have a right not to be treated as a traitor by the government, unless you actually have committted treason under the strict Constitutional definition, and that is all.

The First Amendment does not shield people from unofficial but public criticism for their words or deeds. Private citizens, associations, newspapers, or any other non-governmental entity have a perfect constitutional right to express their opinions.

So, in my opinion, Martha Burke Tressler of Park Forest, Illinois, is a low-down dirty traitor.

Can't the neocons ever get over guns and gays?

The poor dim bulb is like a kid who just learned a new cuss word without really knowing what it means.

True neo-cons, as a rule, are most interested in matters of trade and foreign policy, and rather squishy and indifferent on hot-button domestic social issues.

They are often former Scoop Jackson Democrats who advocate a muscular unilateralist position in foreign affair, with strong support for Israel and other outposts of Western civilization.

Because so many of them are Jewish, the word has been taken up as a cudgel by the more clever sort among the anti-Zionist Left, and used as a euphemism for "Jews".

The rest of the liberal dumbasses just ape it as a derogatory term for anyone whose politics are too right wing for their taste. I think this hag falls into the latter category.

Many big corporations employ Cultural Anthropologists to study the dynamics of the workplace, specifically how to implement change. A more practical application is for HR specialists who serve international clients.

I used to work with a lot of expatriates in my last job and that degree came in very handy working to prepare people for dealing with different cultaural settings.
