So essentially you've never supported the President is what you're trying to say.

On the War....yes...some of the political stuff.....no.

Just an aside....I supported him enough to donate $$$ to him.

Two facts that the MSM will never mention about Mitchell:...(1) He is of Arabic (Lebonese) descent and grew up in that ethnic culture - even though Clinton faked him to be "Irish" so he could send him to mediate in Northern Ireland.

That was played as an asset when he was investigating the "root causes" of the palestinian conflict. My guess George would have performed well on the Iraq Study Group. He'll have a swell time at the UN if this report is true.

This rumor doesn't make sense. That's where I'm coming from.

Why not nominate a woman this time? It might make it harder for the Dems to filibuster her nomination...I suggest Condi. As you may know, she is both Black and a Womyn so we would score 2 on our affirmative action scorecard.

Better yet Madeline Albright. She'll breeze through, and would do as well as Mitchell.

So did I. The difference is I didn't decide to abandon him just because I don't agree with him on everything.

I still support him on the War on Terror.

Supposedly so does almost everyone else here. That hardly takes away from all the Bush-bashing that goes on around here.

I found a mention of this on the Townhall Blog site..

Til I hear more, I'm assuming this is some leftist-generated rumor to demoralize us further.

Without his strength and defiance of the enemy in the War on Terror there would be no 'politics.'

But you don't support his tax cuts, and business policies that have led to the best economy in the history of the country?

You don't support his strong pro-life stance, and his strong support of the military? Roberts, Alito and a fleet of conservative judges??

Harriet Miers and the education bill trump the sanctity of human life and of morality? And everything else as well?

I'm struggling to understand here, Dog. NONE of us who are conservatives agree with everything this President has done. But 'moving on?' I just don't get it.

Frankly, Molly, that's the only theory that does make sense.

The left is very clever about ripping us to shreds. I would guess the generators of this rumor are gloating right now....

It is also the thing to do to float names that will make the other party happy ...doesnt mean Bush will appoint Mitchell but it helps to soften up the other side...

There is no other Reagan on the horizon. There will never BE another Reagan. The candidates will probably be LESS conservative than Bush.

I am sticking with the guy I supported, because I think he has done a good job.

And George Mitchell is NOT going to be UN ambaassador.

The source of this "rumour" is someone who is irrelevant - Lincoln Chafee.

See here

I hope that everyone is relieved.

Shoot, I can't even GET to Drudge by using the link. All I know is it was attributed to an item on Drudge, but that was HOURS ago Howlin and it might have been taken down by now...

Chafee, who was defeated for reelection, issued a statement reiterating his opposition. " Mr. Bolton did not demonstrate the kind of collaborative approach that I believe will be called for if we are to restore the United States ' position as the strongest country in a peaceful world," he said. "This would be an appropriate time to choose a nominee who has a proven ability to work with both sides of the political aisle, a history of building strong international relationships and a reputation of respect for the institution of the United Nations. The names Brent Scowcroft and George Mitchell come to mind immediately as outstanding candidates. " There's no word from White House yet on whom it might nominate as Bolton's replacement.
