RUSH: Here we go with Barack Obama. As you know, he was up in New Hampshire -- do you know, by the way, TV ads for Barack Obama are going to start airing this weekend? Presidential ads for Barack Obama in New Hampshire start airing this weekend. Hillary, I think, is starting to get panicked because she's called up all of Bubba's old buddies, Carville and Begala and Joe Lockhart, she had them over to dinner to discuss what to do about this. Her team wasn't there. They're all one team, of course, but publicly Carville and Begala have said, (paraphrasing) "Well, we'll help, but we're not officially on the team." That allows them to have more movement and latitude under the radar. Anyway, Obama up in New Hampshire being treated like a god making a speech. Now, apparently before he made the speech, Maureen Dowd had written something about his big ears. Obama, after the speech, made a beeline for Maureen Dowd who was in the audience to tell her that he didn't appreciate her writing about his big ears. Now, there's a lot of noise here and it's very muddy. I'll translate it for you, but here's how it sounded.

OBAMA (off mic): You talked about my ears, and I just want to put you on notice: I'm very sensitive about -- What I told them was, ''I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.'"

DOWD (purring): We're trying to toughen you up

How many editorial cartoons have portrayed President Bush in the most grotesque manner?

That was the same thing I thought about. Below is one I snagged from the Daily Toon thread today. Ben Sergeant has always drawn President Bush with huge ears, but I don't have any of his latest hate cartoons.

Actually, Barack's ears are the first thing I found notable about him (aside from his fatuous banality).

I have started to call him "Ears" on the forum way before he dissed MoDo.

I think it's a good name and everyone should use it.

I hope you are correct, but I fear you are dead wrong. America is afraid of true freedom and is a lover of bigger gubbermint. Too many want Gubbermint to fix their problems for them (no matter what they are). 'Pod.

Yeah, but they're no longer willing to roll over and be taxed through the nose to support those programs.

The Dems are aware of their dilemma. They can only extort so much from the wealthy who always find ingenious ways to avoid the tax burden. The poor already don't pay income taxes, but receive earned income credit instead (along with Medicare). That means the Dems will have to squeeze the Big Turnip--the Middle Class--to get money to fund their welfare state.

Once they start squeezing the Middle Class, they lose support at the polls from the people who actually choose who gets to make our laws.

Sucks to be a Democrat. They have huge expectations they cannot fulfill.
