[history]
Incoming Democratic committee chairmen say they will hold a series of hearings and investigations early next year to build the case for their call for a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and for possible action against defense contractors found to have wasted billions in federal funds.
The emerging plans to grill administration officials on the conduct of the war are part of a pledge for more aggressive congressional oversight on issues such as prewar intelligence, prisoner treatment at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, and the government's use of warrantless wiretaps.

They haven't even been sworn in yet and ALREADY the investigations are starting.

Thats OK. Their ridiculous little panels and "investigations" will keep them busy and out of trouble.

Hiya, Panther! I took a dip in the Lefty blogoswamp and the mooonbats were jumping for joy. Murtha was quoted as saying that there'd be two hearings a day. It's going to a tough couple of years 'till 08. Hope we still have a country left by then.

Most Democrat investigations devolve into a sort of Plame-Wilson charade so it should be quite easy for us to target some of the weaker characters on their side and destroy their stories.
We already know about the Chairmen of the committees and they're a regular clownshow, but in the end they are not terribly important. The public at large also knows them and just dismisses their importance ~ that is, the public tolerates them and will continue to tolerate them.
The lower ranked members, who are less well known, are just as clownish. That should make them just the sort of folks we can help to join the ranks of Dan Rather and his little friends.
It's possible we can drive off enough Dem Congress-critters to change the balance of power in the House.

This is really prime considering the incoming chairman of the intelligence committee didn't know the difference between Shi'ite and Sunni's as regards Al Qaeda.

That the party of Bill Clinton even thinks about investigating someone like the Honorable George W. Bush, is one of life's GREAT farces!

"prewar intelligence," I could answer that with one word TENANT, a Clintoon appointee. The real question is why Bush kept him? The DIMS pulled all the spies in from the field, stripped the military etc. I HOPE the GOP grows some big ones (they haven't had them except for a brief period after 911).

And nowhere do we ever hear of any DemocRATs speaking of doing what is needed to succeed, to win, or be victorious.
I guess those words only enter their vocabulary if they pertain to fooling the public into electing them, not to our brave troops fighting a war.

Why the American people sit back and let these charades continue, wasting millions/billions of dollars is beyond me.

Well, stick with me, kid. It isn't much fun, but it's educational.
The MSM calls the leftwing online community the "blogosphere" (Huffington Post, etc.). I wrote "blogoswamp" on a whim because it seemed more accurate.
"Moonbats" (usually spelled with only two o's) are sanity-deprived radical leftists such as Cindy Sheehan. A "barking moonbat" is a shade less sane than a plain "moonbat".
A Leftist, BTW, is shade more insane than a Liberal. Liberals typically believe in our system of democracy and want to "reform" it. Leftists want to tear everything to establish communism or anarchism or multiculturalism or whatever their kink of the moment may be.

The blueprint for the invasion of Iraq was drawn up by Clinton's national security experts. The Senate that voted for war was Democrat, led by Tom Daschle. Leading Democrats were agitating for war in Clinton's last two years. And any investigation--with Republicans on the committee--will reveal the real weapons of mass destruction evidence, and terrorist links, rather than the cover-up the news media has run.

Your not the only one that is incensed. I don't want my tax dollars wasted on these stupid investigations! I am so angry that this party that reelects crooks, and has a rapist in the oval office as a President is now going to be ''investigating'' the ''poor treatment'' the ''innocent''prisoners are receiving at GITMO.(They've all gained 25 to 30 pounds from the ''terrible food'' they are served every day! Why don't the RATS have the prisoners at Gitmo move in with them , since they feel so sorry for them? I've had it with the miserable RATS!

Today I passed someone wearing one of those buttons that reads "I Do Not Consent To A Search". Can you imagine how such a person would be characterized during WW2? (Answer: As one of those anti-Semitic 'America Firsters' who tried to keep us out of the war in Europe, which had nothing to do with us, since Germany didn't attack us, etc.)
That is the kind of mentality that this crap appeals to, those who think this is all a Republican charade, that we created Al Qaeda, etc.

Saw a similar article at the hideous
Nation called
The Waiting Game
In the new Congress there will be much Iraq-related activity, but the Democrats will present no master plan to remove America from the debacle. They will mount a flurry of hearings, scrutinize the war budget and introduce differing bills. Senators Carl Levin, Joseph Biden and Jay Rockefeller--incoming chairs, respectively, of the Armed Services, Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees--plan an array of hearings. Levin aims to examine the military strategy in Iraq. He might continue his quest to dig up information on the Pentagon cell, created by former Under Secretary Douglas Feith, that funneled misleading intelligence to the White House before the war. Biden, who has proposed turning Iraq into a federation of three autonomous regions, intends to examine alternate policies. Rockefeller is looking to complete the long-delayed Phase II inquiry of the Administration's use (or abuse) of prewar intelligence.
On the House side, Jack Murtha, who will take over the defense appropriations subcommittee, wants to probe misuse of reconstruction spending. Henry Waxman, next chair of the Government Reform Committee, will zero in on fraud, waste and abuse in military contracting. Tom Lantos, incoming chair of the International Relations Committee, also wants to probe the reconstruction failure. And Ike Skelton, in line to head Armed Services, has vowed to examine the strain the war has put on the military and the adequacy of assistance to the troops.

Yes, this week global warming was back as we FReeped in shirt sleeves only adding a jacket later in the evening. The forecast for tomorrow is sunny and 72 and 75 on Monday.

Don'tcha just love when a plan comes together? :-)
Quite a few got elected playing "Blue Dog" Democrats... They'll have to show if they are "with us or against us", and that will play in next elections. Of course, most of them will not be let anywhere near the committee posts, but that should also play in next elections (if GOP will wise up and explain the importance of numbers and addition and subtraction of letters R and D in Congressional mathematics). My fervent hope is that in the Senate they can flip Ben Nelson of NE from "blue D" to "red R", to get control of Senate and set a fine example for House members to follow.

Who cares.. this is expected... Let them jump up and down... scream to the highest mountain top.. As an equal branch of government Bush does not have to be under-oath or answer any of their subpoenas. He can basically tell them to fawk off. Unless there is some special independent person appointed (i.e Star with Clinton). That does not mean that they cant try and hurt the underlings however. In the end they will look like a bunch of babies that are trying to pull a Vietnam Part II and no one wants that.
