Keralite (Indian Christian) spared death sentence by Saudi court (Saudi-justice alert)

Alappuzha, Dec. 20 (PTI): A Keralite, who was reportedly facing death sentence in Saudi Arabia, has been set free due to timely intervention of Indian authorities.

Jojo Joseph of Edathua in the district was on Monday ordered to be beheaded for entering the holy place of Medina despite a bar on non-Muslims.

According to Jojo's family members in Edathua, the Saudi authorities later took a lenient view of the case after they were convinced that he did not deliberately commit the mistake.

Jojo, employed in an electronic shop in Jeddah, ran into trouble while rushing in a cab to a hospital where his wife had given birth to a child. The taxi driver took a wrong route and strayed into the prohibited area, his family members said.

The Indian was then spotted by religious volunteers, who handed him to the police.

Jojo's brother-in-law sought former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's help in the matter. Chandy contacted the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi and Minister of state for External Affairs E Ahmed. The two Ministers acted swiftly and secured the release of Jojo through the intervention of Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia, they said.

I am adding to my list:

Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal. It is punishable by death for a non-mulsim to enter the "holy" city of Medina.

Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.

Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.

Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.

Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.

Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.

Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy. Islam is the state religion, and in a court of law the testimony of a Christian carries less weight than that of a Muslim. Section 295(c) of the Penal Code calls for a death sentence for anyone who defiles the name of the Prophet Muhammad and requires the testimony of four Muslims for a conviction. This fosters an environment in which Muslims can feel free to use intimidation and violence against religious minorities for personal gain.

Qatar - Islamic instruction is compulsory in public schools. The government regulates the publication, importation, and distribution of non-Islamic religious literature. The government continues to prohibit proselytizing of Muslims by non-Muslims.

Malaysia - Under Malaysian law, any convert to Christianity must apply to a shariah (Muslim law) court to legally renounce Islam. Many Christians prefer to remain silent converts rather than take their battle to the shariah courts, where apostasy or conversion out of Islam is punishable by whipping, fines, imprisonment and--in the most extreme application--death.

The Maldives - In the island paradise visited by tens of thousands of tourists each year, Christianity is simply not tolerated. While local Christians – said to number around 300 out of a total population of 300,000 – do get together to worship, they do so at the risk of imprisonment or worse if discovered by the Muslim authorities. Bibles are banned, and tourists can be arrested for trying to bring them into the country.

This is just swell of the Saudis. To show my appreciation, I will not do a drive-by shooting at the mosque at the head of my street Friday afternoon when everybody shows up for prayers.

Just proving that I'm an ROP guy too, in my own way.

"It is punishable by death for a non-mulsim to enter the "holy" city of Medina."

You'd better add the magic city of Mecca to that list as well. About 30 years ago, a pal of mine was in a rented car and innocently headed to the toll plaza-like checkpoint entering Mecca; it is clearly marked "muslims only!" Somehow he and his passenger were moved through. My pal spoke Arabic fluently. In time, the were noticed and arrested and taken to a station house. Joe overheard the cops talking about their possible execution. He began to wave his Official Passport around and they finally contacted the embassy in Jeddah, and they were escorted back to the checkpoint and released.

The most dangerous thing that exists is denial, and the Western Left is profoundly blinded by it.

All human beings are susceptible to denial, and its power can not be overestimated.

In the case of the Western Left, denial has dominated a mass Leftist paradigm, accepted by millions of people, whom it has blinded to truth, to reality, and to the dangers that threaten them and their fellow human beings. Nothing could be more dangerous.

Mankind has been amply warned about the dangers of denial, from the earliest myths of Western Civilizaion to contemporary pop-culture and everything in between, but the Western Left, including Leftist leaders, politicians, celebrities, artists, academic leaders, the intelligent and the unintelligent, and the sociopaths who are always ready to exploit any situation to their own advantage, have ignored all warnings and embraced the mass Leftist paradigm that is dominated and characterized by denial.

This paradigm has, in fact, included the nullification of some of the most important conclusions of The Enlightenment and of Western Civilization.

No paradigm could be more dangerous.

No historical event could be more dangerous.

So whats your point? LIke you lot are perfect. Quit pointing out the imperfections of one faith while completely ignoring the faults of your own or every other faith. In the end everyone is gonna cry about something, so I say each their own.

You wanna tell me a Christian country that bans korans and moques? A Hindu country that cuts off people's heads for being an infidel (by law)? A Buddhist country that spreads its religion at the point of a gun?
