USA: Muslim vote is powerful, group told

Muslims played a critical role in some key elections this year. But elected officials won't take them seriously if they don't continue to organize and turn out Muslim voters, two politically active Muslims said Saturday at a convention in Dearborn.

If there are efforts to register Muslims to vote, educate them about the candidates and get them to the polls to vote for one candidate, politicians will court their support, Jameel Johnson, an aide to U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., said at the Muslim American Society and Islamic Circle of North America convention.

"It is our job to make the Muslim vote visible to candidates," he said.

A strategy of organizing Muslim voters worked in Virginia this year in the U.S. Senate race.

The effort was so organized that Muslim taxi drivers in northern Virginia took the day off to ferry Muslims to the polls, said Imam Mahdy Bray, a speaker at the convention. Volunteers also made phone calls to Muslims in Virginia to urge them to vote, he said.

As a result, Democrat James Webb ousted incumbent Republican George Allen by about 9,000 votes in a race in which 50,000 Muslims went to the polls -- 47,000 of them voting for Webb, Bray said.

"You can make a difference when you work," Bray said.

Mohammed Shoman, 18, of Dearborn said the conference inspired him to get involved. "We realize how much our influence is" now, he said.

And when their numbers become sufficient, they will be pushing for Sharia law to replace the US, state and local laws they are subjected to.

Watch how they operate in Europe. They will do the same, eventually, here in the US.

I don't think we're going to have another 9/11 here because the Muzzies have discovered that, with the support and probably funding of the Dem party, they can get elected in virtually any Dem majority or black majority area.

They're a tiny percentage of the population but they have huge funding from the Saudis and the strategy of building mosques all over the US, even where there are no Muslims, is paying off because it makes it look to your average idiot MSM viewing American as if there are lots and lots of them and they are actually the majority.

Well, America, you wanted 'tolerance' (the forced acceptance of every sin and evil there is, under the pretense of "rights"), and you wanted to 'celebrate diversity' (the worshipping of disunity and chaos). But in your celebration of humanism, you have eliminated Christ the King from the underpinnings your government and have supplanted your country's roots and traditions with a great lie. The misuse of your God-given freedoms is fast becoming your own destruction. You apostacized from God and bestowed the same rights upon Satan that you originally believed were bestowed upon you by the Creator. Did you really think that Satan and his legion wouldn't learn how to vote, and destroy you from within?

The is George Bush's reward for being nicey nice to Muslim sensibilities. Ordinarily, Muslims might be expected to vote Republican, since Democrats represent the culture of homosexuality, abortion, sleaze, pornography, and filth. But it's evident that these American Muslims are very happy to make a marriage of convenience with the left, since killing infidels is more important to them in the long run.

Similarly, Democrats are more than happy to ally themselves with the Muslims, even though they beat their wives and behave in all sorts of politically incorrect ways. Because for Democrats, too, bringing down Western Civilization is more important than anything else.

It is shocking to see how this country allows the enemy to take over through constitutional means. I cannot believe that this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

It is even more shocking to see how this country allows its major enemy to remain as part of its population. Oops, I forgot, we are dealing with peaceful citizens. Just listen to what our "leaders" have to say about them.

But, we've tried that - and it's clear that the only language that the Mohammadeans understand is force.

And yes, it's disgraceful that Jim Webb made into into the Senate on the basis of votes cast by enemies of the United States. If he had any honour, he'd resign.

But we all already know that Jim Webb is a dishonourable opportuinust who has betrayed his country in pursuit of power.

LOL. The Muslim vote may be powerful but not in America - in the Middle East. I think this is just a low-level attempt to intimidate American politicians. The only problem is that it might work with the Democrats. Of course, I'm very sad to admit, President Bush has really kow-towed to these types, too.

Then once they are in the majority, they implement Sharia Law, and the democrats will be the first ones to have their throats slit.

"They've got a long way to go before they surpass the illegal alien vote in this country."

Seperating the two is a mistake. The muslim vote combines with the illegal alien vote to help destroy our culture. The fruits of 'diversity' yield a poisen crop to our nation, yet we eat and drink of them with a mind-numbing abandon. If men like President Bush are our boldest and best leaders, better learn to speak Spanish or bow to 'allah', because both are juggernauts that leaders without vision or balls will be unable to stop.

Exactly. Unfortunately, too many people around here spout off crap like "the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim," and "Everything I need to know about Islam I learned on 9/11." Refusal to even recognize that there is such a thing as "moderate Muslims" is one of the worst mistakes conservatives can make, and it's happening all over the place.

OU to offer minor in Islamic Studies
Shawn D. Lewis / The Detroit News
Friday, December 22, 2006

ROCHESTER -- Oakland University students for the first time will be able to minor in Islamic Studies beginning next semester.

The first class, Introduction to Islam, will begin Jan. 4.

The Islamic Studies program was approved by the university five years ago but lacked funding. A group of Muslim professionals from throughout Metro Detroit helped make it happen.

"They have families with children in the schools and would like to make a contribution to increasing more knowledge about Islam and decreasing the prejudice and misinformation surrounding the religion," said Gary Shepherd, director of Religious Studies at the university. "They approached the university this past summer and donated about $250,000 -- generating pledges for $50,000 per year for five years."

The minor will require students to complete 20 credits in courses such as Introduction to Islam, Islamic Ethics, Islamic Law and Islamic Literature, as well as participate in an internship within the Muslim community. Shepherd said the goal is to add more classes to the minor.

Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations based in Southfield, hopes the program also attracts those outside the university.

"I would hope that law enforcement agencies would promote their staff in taking these classes so they can understand more about dealing with Muslims," he said.

That is also a goal for Imam Achmat Salie, recently hired as the Coordinator for Islamic Studies, who will be teaching one of the classes.

"We have a growing Muslim population, and we need to educate people about the ideals of the religion, not some sad realities like the politicized Middle East," he said.

A minor in Judaic studies also is being activated, funded by donors from the Jewish community, according to Shepherd.

Have we stopped assisting Islamic nations and I didn't hear about it?
A significant percentage of the 50,000 political asylees and refugees who came to the US last year were from Muslim nations as well.
Of the top 15 nations currently receiving foreign aid assistance, six are Muslim nations: Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Jordan and Indonesia.
I don't know what any of that has to do with Jim Webb though.
My point is that the Bush administration makes a distinction between radical Islamic fundamentalism and moderate Islamic states.

"Ordinarily, Muslims might be expected to vote Republican, since Democrats represent the culture of homosexuality, abortion, sleaze, pornography, and filth."

It's a nice fantasy to believe that Republicans aren't just as complicit as the Democrats are in the moral destruction of America, but it is just that, a fantasy. Republicans, like the Democrats, celebrate 'diversity', uphold homosexual 'rights', respect a 'woman's right to choose', and allow pornography to proliferate everywhere. I personally see no great fight going on between the two parties, where one side relentlessly and courageously presses for morality and rightiousness. Maybe they've duped some folks into believing that, or maybe we just want to believe that goodness and honesty still abound in government but are being constrained by Democrats.

In any case, the homos, feminists, moderates, appeasers and abortionists abound on both sides of the political isle. We have morphed into a humanist/secularist government. We are now paying the heavy price of a nation that has prohibited itself from applying Christian morals and values to our laws.

Rubbish. Islam is not a moderate religion, it is an extreme cult. The only real 'moderate' muslim is a muslim who does not practice islam. In other words, those who practice islam cannot possibly coexist with peaceful people, because their's is a religion of perpetual discontent, extreme prejudice, intellectual retardation and physical violence, which their 1,400 year history so clearly reveals .

The only way you can say that "the only real 'moderate' muslim is a muslim who does not practice islam" is if you hold a fundamentalist, literalist interpretation of the Koran and of Islam as a whole. There are really only 2 groups of people who interpret Islam in such a fundamentalist, literalist manner - Islamist extremists/terrorists, and xenophobic right-wingers (I refuse to use the term "conservatives" because I don't want to share that label with you) like you.

The rest of the world, and in particular the rest of the Muslim world, understands that Islam can peacably co-exist with peaceful people - does it bother you that you have so much in common (in terms of your interpretation of Islam) with the enemy?

Among the objectives of the Muslim American Society (MAS) are:

To offer a viable Islamic alternative to many of our society’s prevailing problems,

To promote family values in accordance with Islamic teaching,

Then I read opinion elsewhere praising J. Carter's new book and this comment from the Carter himself:

"This reluctance to criticize policies of the Israeli government is due to the extraordinary lobbying efforts of the American-Israel Political Action Committee and the absence of any significant contrary voices." J. Carter.

Well.. no, Mr. Carter, the American-Israel Political Action Committee has no influence on my opinion. The news does.

The news of members of the religion of peace strapping explosives onto their bodies and exploding in crowded places killing little children and adults -- the murderers' families praise Allah.

I can do without "Islamic alternative to many of our society’s prevailing problems" and its "family values in accordance with Islamic teaching."

Whole lota whining about being picked on voiced on that site -- I'd rather be picked on than picked up one tiny blood-soaked fragment at a time, thank you.

"Police told to respect traditions,"

POLICE are being advised to treat Muslim domestic violence cases differently out of respect for Islamic traditions and habits.

Women's groups are concerned the politically correct policing could give comfort to wife bashers and keep their victims in a cycle of violence.

The instructions come in a religious diversity handbook given to Victorian police officers.

Police are told: "In incidents such as domestic violence, police need to have an understanding of the traditions, ways of life and habits of Muslims."

They are told it would be appreciated in cases of domestic violence if police consult the local Muslim religious leader who will work against "fragmenting the family unit".

Because we can pull a few articles up on google does not mean there are large numbers vocally protesting radical islam. Why are they now out in the streets protesting? Why are they not writing letters to the editors around the country? I'm sorry, but they are few and far between. It may be fear, but what does that say about Islam if there are large numbers who disagree but are too afraid to step up and say so?
