I'm not a stamp collector, but I bought a page of the DC comics and I'm saving it. I have also bought numerous other pages for general mailing. I really really like this issue!

There's a dirty little secret they don't want to talk about...the Pamela Anderson stamp. They have wanted to issue one, but it seems they were never used, just licked repeatedly...

Get people to buy the product without actually using it -- instant positive cash flow. Gift cards which are never redeemed is an obvious example, but postage stamps that go into a collector's album rather than on a letter are another.
Ergo, the USPS should come out with a line of salacious stamps. Heck, the government is already heavily involved in vice (state lotteries, Federal permits for Indian Reservation casinos, high taxes but lax restrictions on tobacco and alcohol, etc.); so what's wrong with X-rated stamps?

They just released a new stamp commemorating the History of Prostitution. It costs 37 cents, but if you want to lick it, it will cost you 20 dollars.

Thanks for the links...
I always liked the Looney Tunes stamps and the DC Comics.
But Reagan's stamp will always be my favorite.
Did the USPS ever make one with John Wayne?

Nice. There were some nice airmail stamps from the late '20s that I used to have, in nice plate blocks, but I sold them when I stopped collecting years ago.

Stamps lost their meaning when they started printing
specifically for collectors.
A "special issue" is one thing, but the way they market and sell today's stamps is absurd. (Not to mention the ultra-PC subjects they choose.)
To: Bender2
I stopped collecting them when they stopped engraving them. Litho just doesn't cut it with me.

I understand your reasoning. The U.S. Mints are doing
the same to the real hardcore coin collectors. The
U.S.P.S and the Mints try to offset their expenses by
producing collectible items that can be sold to
collectors.
However, The "State Quarters" series is an attempt
to turn all of America into collectors. As a result,
so many coins are saved by the general public that
few of these coins, in the future, will have much
value. There will just be to many of them available.
It is always the rare but desirable coin, that few
people have saved, that will be prized in years to come....JJ61

Unfortunately, only the regular one (but a fried did have a block of the inverted center, and it was worth several thousand dollars back in the '60s).
