Posted on 12/30/2006 2:14:10 PM PST by Howlin
The President's plane is arriving at Andrews Air Force Base at this moment.
Thank you for the time line.
I'm watching on FNC and was just about to tell you, that Chris Wallace has a nice voice for funerals, but now Kristol and Barnes have cut in.... *sigh*
Got the stream and C-Span up.
Sometimes we do; more often than not, IMO.
I am here Howlin...
Thanks for the ping...
I have only seen TV a little today...so I am not up to speed on where Pres. Ford is today.
Watched the departure from California. Saw her military escort pat her hand once and he kept looking at her. Was surprised to find my face wet with tears when it was over.
This is an interesting conversation on Fox about Ford's administration being the "incubator" for the leaders of today.
She looks so frail to me. It must be ever so difficult for her to lose him. Prayers for her strength.
That got to me too.
Just arrived at Andrews.
Yes, it is.
I am so pleased to see this for President Ford.
He didn't serve long....but, it was his tenure at the helm that served to heal this nation and help it recover from one of its darkest hours.
I will always be grateful.
And, I pray our former President rests in the peace in our Lord's hands.
I Agree, Compared to what I was watching earlier with the dancin en singin in GA.
Thank you....Hail to the Chief....21 Gun salute.
I am glad I didn't miss this.
President's plan their own funerals.
I wonder if he planned his for nightfall.
If so, I think it's a perfect time. It really sets a proper funeral mood.
"21 Gun salute"
US Army Field Artillery - King of Battle!
I'm sitting here at working listening to someone say, "between Ford,Brown and Saddam they're just 3 dead men"......no different then me.......nice huh.....I didn't say a word......you can't argue with stupidity.
My Country Tis of Thee. I managed to make it about one minute without crying.
That kind of stuff is best left for Irish wakes... I like funerals sad, dignified and patriotic.
Doubt it. To plan for a nightfall arrival in DC he would have needed to plan the date of his death, too.
Amen..I have lost my husband..It is so very difficult.
It's all Ford's fault ;0)
God Bless him and his family
Thanks for this...I am too, and thought it was just me.
Hey .. we aren't aren't that bad :0)
I thought the "Whip Inflation Now" buttons were ridiculous but compared to the GOP PR going on today they were stellar.
Children today do not even know that song. I went to Catholic school and sang that song everyday after the "Pledge". Times have changed so much.
They said that James Brown's clothes had been changed for all three funerals, so far...
Oh yes we are and you know it. :)
Me too. Everything is so precise. From the half steps to the way they handle the charges for the 21 gun salute.
Hope Mrs Ford got some rest on the way to DC.
I just saw Betty's profile in the limousine. She is so sweet and brave. Praying for you, Betty.
This was a beautiful, solemn and stately ceremony.
I don't like the peeping tom camera shot into Mrs. Ford's car.
Not before they are buried, we aren't
We do show some respect ;0)
She's probably running on empty.
How many years were the Ford's married?
I agree --- that hit me as intrusive.
Offhand, I'd say 58 years... have to look it up.
Do you remember Pat Nixon's funeral?
My heart just broke for Richard Nixon
I cry very easy...so this is a box of tissues day.
President Ford was a good man, though I didn't agree with him on some things.
Wow. Right on the money! From Wikipedia: "On October 15, 1948 Elizabeth Bloomer Warren married Gerald R. Ford Jr., a lawyer and World War II veteran, at Grace Episcopal Church, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "
Unfortunately, he has been blamed for all kinds of things by the libs..even though Chrissy Matthews was saying how great he was...
Thanks for looking it up. I guess someone mentioned it in the reporting and it stayed in my mind. I am only one year older than their marriage.
Oh yes, I agree with that. I love our Catholic funerals... but afterward, it often doesn't take more than 10 toasts to the departed before the arguing commences.
I made it to the TV right before "Hail to the Chief" Almost wished I didn't, pass me a Kleenex.
I was watching the grandchildren. You can tell they mourn their Grandpa.
Can you imagine the overwhelming awe the State Funeral must be for them? These ceremonies represent everyting right with our country (IMHO), the respect, the dignity, etc. And to see your Grandfather honored in such a way has to be a powerful moment.
Libs still blame their parents for everything wrong with their lives .... they never leaver learned to grow up
Who knows....I know the casket has been open for all three.
I have no idea if today's was the last one or not, luckily Fox didn't stay on it...they went to California...and covered all of the other news.
