I believe you are totally correct on this matter. CNN, and all the Alphabets realize that they are going down the tubes, and are still misbehaving, acting like little America hating rat commie pinko types. They cannot help themselves, they know they are going down, they know why by now, but they are helpless to change their disgusting leftist, biased reports. It would be so easy to just tell the freaking truth. Just tell what happened, do not ad lib, do not embellish, do not put your stupid leftist spin on everything, do not lie by omission. Clearly the most important of all: see a good shrink about your Stage 3 of 4 BDS, it turns out to be a fatal DBM/Hollywood/DNC affliction, and you are approaching stage 4.

Hillary is not going to be out of the running, if at all, until 2008. She is evil and will do whatever it takes to get the nomination.

Good point... There are now a couple of very charismatic opponents for Hillary, but she definitely has the organization. And of course, the very appealing Bubba remains in her corner, as well. In order for my prediction- admittedly a long shot- to come about, the scheming Hillary will have to be viewed in the light in which you properly cast her.

If Billybub can't behave- always a possibility- and if her competition is successful in bringing out that repulsive shrillness which she can't control at times, Hillary could be toast. It will be a very interesting year or so.

As I stated earlier, the half-life of this sort of musing can be minuscule.

#257, Mccain has built a machine that will not get him past the Republican Primary. He has to get through freeper types, and we would have him retire this minute and go haunt a house or something if it were not for a Lib Democrat Governor in Arizona. Mccain has mostly support of Rinos and Rats, neither can help win the Primaries.

I have been poo pooed before on this comment, but I think McCain isn't setting up to get the Republican nomination.  I think he's building his hopes on an independent candidacy, maybe with a Democrat as his running mate as a "unity" ticket.  He's already said he won't take federal funds which will allow him to take and spend much more private money.

I don't think it has a chance in hell of working, but I think that's what he thinks will work for him.  I agree 100% with your assessment of his chances in the Republican primaries.

#293, I agree he looked and acted nervous and not ready for prime time. Brit is so much better at this, he is almost like an encyclopedia on all that data. It was like Wallace needed a lot of Aides to help him, and they called in sick. He also talked when he should not have, his Producer was either an idiot or they were not communicating. On fox they kept focusing on People I cannot stand like Levin,Hagel,Schumer and all those Bush Haters. All the Republicans looked wan and sad, especially the Cheneys, and the Democrats looked like they were mugging for the Cameras, especially Schumer which was normal for him. I believe I saw Clinton salute the Casket and I walked away from the TV at that point. I have watched the BBC do these extravaganzas before and they seem to do their homework, and know when to shut up and be solemn.

I know gay marriage managed to get by him and Mass is the only state that allows it and it happened under his watch.

That was an action of the courts, not something he could do anything about.

The main thing that recommends Romney to me is that he has been a businessman almost his entire career.  And he managed to turn a profit after taking over the Salt Lake City Olympics after it looked like it was going to be a disaster.  That's the same kind of thing he was famous for in private business.  It's also exactly the kind of skill set that I think is required to fix our government.

But I want to know what lies below

No argument there .. I think we all need to know who a candidate is and where they stand when deciding on who to be Presdident of the United States

I wasn't endorsing Romney .. (i haven't picked anyone yet) just pointing out the whole Mormon/Religion thing is a non issue for this election

I am in complete agreement with you on Romney.

it remains to be seen, if Conservatives see the light on this issue. If they don't, we lose the White House for at least eight years...Maybe more....

That's how I see it.

Muslim mosques are a huge thing, great catch Carolyn.

That's how they try to divide and conquer every country on earth. They are doing it everywhere. What we don't realize is that 50 years is nothing to these brainwashed bastards. They think in terms of hundreds of years, brainwashing is a terrible thing.

Look, read, especially in places like Turkey where they have all but kicked all the Christians out. Muslims are very tolerant. As long as you believe exactly like they do, you can stay.

Couldn't happen here could it, how bout in merry ol' England! We need to take a harder look at any minority that comes to the U.S. without any plan to become an American citizen. No melting pot no citizenship I say. That's always been the rule why change. Unless we just don't value the country any more than it's anything goes like we are headed now.If the goal is one world than once again anything goes.

Mary Landrieu has been demanding money and more money since the first day the hurricane struck, even before we knew just how bad it was.

The Dhimmicrats are calling for an "8/29 commission" to investigate "what went wrong with Katrina."  Let's set one up, but make sure that drones like Lee Hamilton, Kean and Baker don't get anywhere near it.  It's already been established that the problem was 60 years of shoddy and fraudulent "work" on the levies, which was virtually 100% under the control of local Dhimmicrats, including folks like Moon Landrieu, Mary's dad.

Mary Landrieu is the consonant rat,all she knows is "buy votes at any cost" anywhere, any time. She is a perfect example of the kenndedy type mold of "running all the time" always sloganeering never actually doing anything just ranting and screaming for mo' money. It's been a rat/way of life in LA and DC for years.

...So is the Baltimore SUN. Almost every day the front page of the Maryland, ie local, section has an article with people looking mournful, about someone affected by the war in Iraq.

I'm curious, did the Nazi death camp commanders report their murder stats with as much glee as America's disgusting DBM?

snugs, I am late returning (husband had to have the computer to set up a new printer) but I want to tell you that you are so right about the Vice President being comfortable around strong women.

My father was an only child whose best friend on their ranch in Texas was his cousin, a girl. He was very attached to his mother, a strong woman herself. After he married my mother (a woman with a degree and a job) he bought her a car (in the days when families only had one car) and didn't kick up a fuss when she went back to teaching when I was in the fifth grade. In fact, he hired a babysitter and housekeeper (housekeeping was not her forte). He raised 4 strong girls who are very independent and treasure the support he gave us.

Cheney reminds me of my dad in that way. He treats his daughters as individuals, not as "girls."

#297, My friend just got me (for Christmas) "The Bush Family Cookbook", written by their long time Personal Chef and House Manager Ariel De Guzman, and his comments about the Bush Family really tell you the Difference between the Carters, the Clintons, and the Bush Family attitude about People of all walks of life, and how they treat them. The book is excellent and is somewhat Autobiographical about the Author. It is filled with great, easy to follow recipes, and lots of Colorful Pictures of those Dishes made from the Recipes. The book was written in 2005, but goes back to when mr. De Guzman was born in The Philippines, and through his Naval Career. He is a wonderful example of a great immigrant, and he is so humble, and patient, kind, it is no wonder that he is considered part of the Family. He wrote a really touching (Tearjerker) account of the Two Bush Family Dogs Millie and Ranger, and how much they loved him and he loved them.

You could be right, and if this happens it could actually cause a three way race which could get very interesting. Problem is if he is going to go independent he sure is waiting until the very ,very last hour to do it. Pragmatically speaking his chance would be far better just switching parties, but if he is not at the top of the ticket I don't think he would. And hillary will never give up her Queen status.

No way they could field an "all Mormon" ticket. Romney being a Mormon won't be an issue, and if someone else gets the nomination either Romney or Jon Huntsman from Utah could be the VP candidate and their being Mormons wouldn't be an issue (for most people).

I agree with the comment about Rudy and Condi having name recognition, but I think Rudy would be out for geographic and political balance with Romney. I would love it to be Condi but she insists she won't run and I believe her. I know it won't happen, but I liked the suggestions last week about Lynne Cheney for VP.

#327, why thank you, but I cannot claim it as my original thought. I cannot remember where I heard it first, but I too thought it was profound thinking and worth repeating. I am going to rack my brain to backtrack and figure out when and where I heard it. I believe it was from a Female caller responding to someone against the "Mormon" Romney on a Talk Show I was listening to on the way back from Sarasota. It may have been Schnitt and it may have been about three weeks ago or more. I may have to be hypnotized to remember . LOL!

How about Rick Santorum for VP with Romney? It doesn't give the ticket geographic balance, though Pennsylvania is technically not part of New England, but it certainly provides good conservative credentials as well as great credibility in the WOT.

This is more or less the recipe I use but I tend to use the fat from the meat either from the joint I am cooking or if I have roasted duck or goose recently I keep the excess fat for the potatoes or parsnips.

Ingredients
750g/1½ lb parsnips
3 tbsp sunflower oil

Method
1. Peel the parsnips and if necessary, cut out the woody central core. Cut into 5cm/2inch lengths.
2. Keep in a plastic bag in the fridge until ready to cook.
3. Steam or boil the parsnips until not quite tender.
4. Heat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Heat the sunflower oil in a roasting tin and toss the parsnips in the hot oil.
5. Roast the parsnips for 30-40 minutes until crisp and golden, basting half way through the cooking time.

I cook the roast potatoes in the same way and in the same tin.

I love it! That rascal Bubba has every contingency covered. The rabid, pour water on a drowning man feminists would no doubt once again adopt the stance that Hillary is but a long- suffering, faithful victim and give her a pass for not ripping Billybub a new one. No doubt the whole thing would once more be spun into yet another demonstration of the power of their "mutual devotion's" ability to overcome adversity. Ain't love grand?

Perhaps, as the novelist Allen Drury so aptly wrote:

"We live in the Republic of Feel-Good in a time when all the scum of America is rising to the top."

Excellent summary of the historic situation. I would disagree with your characterization of Ford's tenure in the House, however. Newt Gingrich proved that the party in the minority needn't roll over for the majority, particularly when it is acting irresponsibly, as the Dhimmicrats were in the late 60s and early 70s. Ford was from the accomodationist wing of the Republican party, more concerned with maintaining their own perks and the "institution" than with actually doing things for the country. Bob Michel was the same type of "go along to get along" Republican.

Facts are facts. You really can't compare the two because they served in much different circumstances as far as the composition of the Rep party was concerned, i.e., the percentage identifying themselves as conservatives. The GOP during Ford's tenure had many Northeasterners and Midwesterners. It was more liberal overall as a party. This changed as the GOP gained in the conservative South, which has now become the GOP's principal power base. Eisenhower, Nixon and Ford were not conservatives nor did they pretend to be so. Neither was Bush 41. You can't fault Ford for being accommodating to the Dems because he had little choice given the large Dem majorities. Most of the politically meaningful dialogue took place within the Dem party with the Southern Dems pitted against the rest of the Party. The Reps could use some leverage in forming coalitions with Dems to determine the outcome of some issues.

Also, the Dems controlled the House to a much greater degree when Ford took over as the minority leader [1965-73] than under Gingrich's minority whip tenure [1989-95] when he took over for Cheney. The Dems controlled the 89th Congress [1965-67] in the House 295-140 and 68-32 in the Senate. The Reps high water mark in the House never got above 192 during Ford's tenure and many of those Reps were not conservatives.

The GOP under Gingrich was a much different party thanks to the success of Reagan and the shift of the South to the Rep column. It was much different than the GOP that had been practically destroyed when Goldwater was the standard bearer in the 1964 election.

I also agree with those that characterize Ford as an "anti-conservative Republican," if you take Reagan to represent the conservatives in the party. Lots of people have pointed out the slap in the face selecting Nelson Rockefeller as his VP was to conservatives. At the time it was intended to broaden his standing across the party as Ford was nominally a midwestern conservative (of the old school) and Rockefeller represented a different wing of the party, but events later made me associate Ford (and the old school midwest Republicans) with the country club Rockefeller Republicans as oppposed to the Reagan conservatives.

Ford was being a political realist. In 1964 Goldwater, an avowed and proud conservative, got the nomination of the GOP. He lost the popular vote 61% to 38.5% and the electoral vote 486-52. I can understand why Ford would be reluctant 12 years later to place another conservative on the national ticket.

None of this is that strongly held or backed by any research. It's just my impression, having lived through the times in question (though I wasn't paying that much attention to politics at the time).

It sounds like you a bit older than me. I am only 63, but I can remember much of it, especially the 60s having served in Vietnam. As a 17 year old in 1960, I was distributing campaign literature door to door in a small town in very Rep upstate NY on behalf of JFK. Of course, by today's standards, JFK might be considered a conservative.

#363, they just harbor these negative feelings about a pre-born baby unless it is a freaking Duck egg. I hate it also when they club those helpless seals, I would like to club them, and I would never wear Fur that was taken from a baby anything. Those wackos should use the same kind of enthusiasm against the Human Baby Killers as they do against the Baby Animal Killers.
