Rats! I thought this was about a cure for Alzheimer's.

My wife saw a report today that said if you have ever had Herpes you are prone to get Alzheimers?

Seems to be FireFox/Mozilla oriented. Found this at their website ...

Download DieHard Download and install this to protect Mozilla / Firefox on Windows. If you want to hear about new releases, sign up for the DieHard mailing list. If you are using a non-Windows system, then download DieHard here.

Nothing XP-only ....and so I can't see what the benefit would be. My XP is pretty reliable, but since Intel was involved thought "what the heck".

Yes ... I've done a bit of work for Intel...

When I saw the term "Die Hard" I thought it had something to do with Viagra.

Programers are still storing data as if disk space were still in short supply, too.

If you can sell me enough ammo, you can forget about the life insurance...that would be redundant.

Just get an iMAC...it just works. I converted from PC to iMAC back in August. This is the most fun I've had on a computer in a long time...

I've got an iMac at work. Great machine. The cooling fans are virtually silent. I can only hear them if I put my ear to the casing.

Beware..... I just downloaded this from the site linked in the article and strange things immediately started happening - I sure hope this site and program are legit!! My Firefox browser keeps freezing up and crashing, and asking me if I want to send error reports to Mozilla.... so far (a few minutes) it's the exact opposite of an improved user experience. I'm no techie but what I'm seeing right now scares me. I'm shutting down for the night.

I want to try it, but I have never had any hacking problems (yet), so I am reluctant if it is going to slow things down.

Thank you, I decided not to download because these things always behave just like you described....Good luck, keep us FReepers posted. Can you uninstall? I would also run spyware and virus scan

One thing I would think might be useful would be if programs and threads could give the operating system a "justify_memory" callback which would instruct them to notify the OS of all memory they knew about that they owned

This seems like something you could add to your implementation of smart pointers. What, you don't spin your own?

I have spun my own pointer-allocation methods on embedded systems. Generally, though, I've not had problems with memory leaks. I do miss the days, though, when one could do a full memory dump when a program started and when it finished, and confirm that there were no leaks.
