Bingo! That's the Duke Professor I'm remembering: Steven Baldwin.

That was thoughtful of you to write him, luv2ski.

Gang of 88: To the students speaking individually and to the protesters making collective noise, thank you for not waiting and for making yourselves heard." --Group of 88 statement, April 6

Perfect soundbyte from the Gang of 88 aiding, abetting, endorsing the collectivist nattering of the legal lynching of three young innocent men.

Thank you for that article link, maggief.

No way, IMO, was it random. I think it was deliberate. Could have been a burglary. Could have been due her being black and such a good student. Could have been because she was so pretty and well-liked. Could have been because she knew things which others didn't wish to be known. Could have also been because of fiance was a Greensboro Officer of the Law.

It saddens me greatly that such a fine young woman was murdered.

The thing is, in the Durham community, people who know aren't going to talk. Same way it is in Oakland, California.

Things got so bad in Oakland, families were living in their homes, pretty much, below the window line JUST to avoid "random shootings".

Years back when CA's judge D-Rose Byrd "released" criminals back into Oakland's neighborhoods (on the grounds they'd had "bad" childhoods therefore the crimes they had committed were "society's fault"), a sector of Oakland demanded that only Black Police Officers should be patrolling the most troubled parts of Oakland. Problem was? Many of these Black Police Officers were getting big heat in their own families and churches for NOT standing up "with the brothers"; getting heat for doing what was right. And of course, the MSM was NOT on the side of the Police. Ever. It was a no win situation for any cop in Oakland. Bobby Seale! Huey Newton! were names added to any conflict in Oakland when an Officer was doing his job and not "standing with the brothers". It was invoked as routinely as "Did you know John Kerry served in Vietnam?"

And as the gangs grew in sophistication, they were able to get more and more of their own "people" into elected positions. Crimes getting solved? Where? Not in Oakland. Even Moonbeam Jerry Brown says it should be done, and it just can't happen. And D-Jerry Brown DID fight like a mad dog to reduce crime in Oakland. He was fought every step of the way.

Why? The criminals are *that* entrenched in Oakland, CA. Decent people in Oakland in those troubled areas used to have to pay-up, to ensure their homes were effectively made "safe". Over-time, that pay-up became losing their own children to and by the gangs.

I think NCCU should move its campus out of Durham.

Dowd's younger brother Craig was expected to enroll at Duke last fall on a lacrosse scholarship, but he turned it down and will enroll at Georgetown University this spring. "We didn't feel like we could send him to Duke with everything that was going on," Tricia Dowd, his mother, told a local newspaper. "We love Duke ... but we didn't know what the professors would do."

I don't blame her one tiny bit! She's no fool!

Methinks she's using Marxian to suggest these boys should be tried and found guilty before a jury filled with Shabazz types.

Yes, a portrait of the "infected."

The flick "The Mummy" did a great job, IME, of portraying the visual of "the infected"... the Mummy partially constructed.. the followers as lepers and zombies....

I'll give you that! It must be awful, being in her head, wouldn't you think? I mean, she must be crazy, she's so confounded in her thought process.

Yes, it must be awful, being in her head. I suspect she has felt so secure all these years via "life in the ivory tower" it's beyond her imagining that things wouldn't be going according the Plan of Gaia, Liberalism, self.

Or, that she's developed a newer Hot-Lips Hoolihan spin ipso her most recent statements.

Yeah, sounds like a description of the Duke G88 faculty all following along behind the provost, Davidson.

Schadenfreude. I never really appreciated the nuances of this word until I beheld the burgeoning fallout from this incident. I LOVE to see liberals hoisted on the petard of Political Correctness, racial identity politics, gender determinint feminism and what I have coined as "Tawana Brawley Syndrome".

TBS exists when one takes a historical reality such as the marginalization of innocent blacks within a once overtly racist crminal justice system or the past subjagation of women or any number of other offenses and attempts to apply that to a contemporary situation wherein the objective facts don't apply; ala OJ Simpson, Rodney King, Anita Hill etc.

Nifong was not only hoping to ride to re-election a wave of politically motivated outrage from the Black community over this contretemps, but I suspect that he was seeking to appropriate PC bonus points and obtain instant moral authority by championing the cause of the "other" (marginalized black exotic dancer) against racist male chauvinist members of the privliged white elite. A case of cultural Marxist Class warfare that boomeranged. GOD how I love it so!!!!!

For the record. Heard back from someone who knows the area like the back of his hand. He tells me that NCCU is a snow-show during the evenings. Snow-show (I had to ask): More whites on campus at NCCU at night than during the day. He asserted that most those attending graduate school for their masters attend NCCU ESPECIALLY if they are STATE EMPLOYEES. A. The NCCU masters programs are the easiest to take and the fastest to graduate with. B. Employees working FOR the State can get upwards of $10K-$30K increase IMMEDIATELY upon graduating with their MASTERS.

And I got this answer out of asking what he'd heard rumbling in the area over Denita Smith's murder.

Thank you, LB. I will remember this factoid. I have a hunch the knowledge of this fact (and of the NCCU "graduate program") is going to come in useful in the near future.

I would think, however, having DUKE U as the Masters would be worth more than a Masters from NCCU. Perhaps, where a masters is obtained is entirely irrelevant; just another schill game for propogandists and "Universal free college" proposals.

Well it really comes from the government(s) being unwilling to differentiate between a Duke or an NCSU or a UNC or a NCCU. As far as a credential is concerned a masters is a masters is a masters. I can see going to NCCU for a masters because of the in-state tuition versus Duke. But, frankly, the big issue is probably the prior academic credentials necessary to be admitted in the first place. Otherwise those same people could go to NCSU or UNC.

Should we come up with the equivalent of the "snow show" for the "daytime" students? Nah. THAT might be racist.
