Most Americans are convinced that media coverage of the conflict in Iraq is inaccurate and portrays the situation as being worse than it actually is, a new survey shows.
According to the Gallup News Service, a December survey of a representative sample of 569 adult Americans revealed that fully 56 percent believe that major news media coverage of the situation in Iraq is generally inaccurate while only 4 out of 10 Americans agree that it is accurate.
Moreover, the survey showed that by a 61 percent to 36 percent margin, those who feel that the Iraq coverage is inaccurate say it is because the media make the situation there appear worse than it actually is.
Responses from survey participants showed that two-thirds of Republicans believe that the news media's coverage of Iraq is both inaccurate and makes the situation there appear worse. Only one-quarter say that news media coverage is accurate.

No duh.
Of course the MSM is biased on Iraq...they're biased on EVERYTHING.
This will be the lead on the CBS evening news tonight .... not!
It's what they do. Even if the media didn't have a leftist slant, they do have a sensationalist slant. Here in Ohio, back when it used to snow, (love el nino/global warming), the local television channels would go berserk. Lots of warnings, special weather cut ins, etc. And then the big event, 2" of snow. Meh.
But, the media will have to look closer at their ways. Now that we have alternatives, many, like me, are choosing to not watch.
When did this happen?
"The media biased against the war on terror?"
But more people in the poll believed the coverage was accurate than believed that it was biased 'against the war on terror'?
SHOCKING!
Simpler way to present those numbers:
44% condition in Iraq accurately protrayed
20% conditions in Iraq worse that portrayed
36% conditions in Iraq better than portrayed
which lines up pretty well with the poll numbers for "Suppport the war in Iraq".
I don't watch the MSM anymore. When I do happen to catch something about "news" changing channels, it's clearly more lies.
They lie all the time about everything.
Thank God for the internet.
The survey results are based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,013 adults, ages 18 and older, conducted Dec. 18-20, 2006. For results based on this sample, one can say with 95 percent confidence that the maximum error attributable to sampling and other random effects is ±4 percentage points.
For results based on the sample of 569 adults who say the news media have been providing an inaccurate account of the situation in Iraq, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±5 percentage points
An interesting survey would be whether any really cares about the MSM's accuracy. I've tuned it out for so long I can't imagine anything they could do to restore my interest.
A lot of pi$$in and moanin goin on out thar. We would know things were improving if troops were coming home. Bush is undergoing a reality check. The current surge is not needed to build roads or schools.
569 people interviewed
56% (319) believe coverage is inaccurate.
61% of those (195) believe it's made to look worse than it is.
Um, 195 is 34.27% of 569. Not a real big number.
I wish it were big, but it ain't. That's our problem.
LOL! Sure..right after they talk abotu the poll that says 82% of Americans dont think democrats have a plan!!
Double-duh ping.
