SOMALIA: EUROPEAN UNION CRITICISM OF U.S. RAID ON SOUTH (against al-Qaeda militants in Somalia)
ADNK ^ | 9 Jan 2007

Posted on 01/09/2007 9:01:10 AM PST by IrishMike

European Union human rights and development commissioner Louis Michel's spokesman, Amadeu Altafaj Tardiu, has strongly criticised the United States military's airstrikes on Tuesday against alleged al-Qaeda linked militants in southern Somalia which it is feared killed many. "This kind of incident is not particularly conducive to improving the longterm situation.. and would seem to confirm that the conflict in Somalia will continue for a long time to come," Tardiu told journalists in Brussels.

"There's a danger that Somalia will become a theatre for clashes between religions and civilisations," Tardiu continued. Extremism doesn't have deep-seated roots in Somali society, he claimed, adding: "The phenomenon of the Islamist Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) movement is a response to a failed state - this represents a threat."

Given this context, only the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops as soon as possible, and the deployment of an international peacekeeping force that will safeguard a ceasefire can bring security to the war-wracked country, Tardiu argued. The Ethiopian government has undertaken to withdraw its troops from Somalia within two weeks.

"Only a political solution can create any prospect of peace and stability in Somalia," Tardiu cautioned, adding that "a comprehensive dialogue is needed that includes all the forces in Somalia, including moderates from the UIC. His comments echoed those made on 3 January by EU politicians at meeting on Somalia in Brussels. They agreed on the need to include all the country's political forces in peace talks, and favouring an African peacekeeping force that would be acceptable to all parties.

Germany's foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, speaking on behalf of his country's presidency of the EU - which hosted the Brussels meeting last week - assured Somalis "unfaltering, especially humanitarian, assistance," from the bloc and also from the United Nations.

In case the Europeans had not noticed, Somalia was a basket case before the Ethiopians invaded, and before the US bombed.

Insert standard nonsense: Somalia didn't attack us on 9/11, Somalia has nothing to do with the War on Terror, there was no Al Qaeda in Somalia before the US attacked, we're creating terrorists, where's Osama? blah, blah, blah...

"comprehensive dialogue is needed"

an example of comprehensive dialogue:
EU: We need to sit down and discuss a political solution
ISLAMISTS: Convert, pay or die
EU: Seriously, what can be done to bring this to a peaceful solution?
ISLAMISTS: Convert, pay or die
EU: Come on guys, really..I'm having pizza and coke delivered in case these negotiations go on for a while..what can be done?
ISLAMISTS: Convert, pay or die
EU: You are not..BLAM BLAM BLAM
ISLAMISTS: You are the one that ignored the first two options..

Wasn't the UN in charge in Somalia (Mogadishu) when BlackHawk down occurred.
We were not properly supported by the UN troops at that time, nor did Blowjob Bill support our troops at that time.
Now we have Nancy (Tokyo Rose) Pelosi.

European Union human rights and development commissioner Louis Michel's spokesman, Amadeu Altafaj Tardiu, has strongly criticised the United States military's airstrikes on Tuesday against alleged al-Qaeda linked militants in southern Somalia which it is feared killed many.

Why do they fear that we killed many Al-Qaeda? This just means they want them to live, if not thrive. A dead give away to their thoughts on those thug killers.

Where on Earth has this fool been? The tense of his first statement is wrong. It was correct 5 years ago. His second statement is simply ridiculous. Of course extremism doesn't root itself in societies where it already exists!   Extremism doesn't have deep-seated roots in Somali society... That's why there is fighting to keep it out.

Talk about pure unadulterated doublespeak.

"Comprehensive" as in a two week conference in a lush resort location with 5 star meals, first class round-trip airfares and round-the-clock on call limousine transportation.

After 1400 years, Mohammadans have suceeded in conquering Europe, and all it took were pregnant Jihadi women on welfare and disgruntled youts burning lemons. Enjoy the 7th century, Europe. I suggest that the American military for the next two years of a W rule, continue to bomb , smash every Islamofascist area whether nations involved do not like it or not: Pakistan, Somalia, the Phili., any where in the ME. Why not? Will the Dems try to impeach? So what? The Pubs, though wussies, will not allow it. Kill as many of these thugs as possible and let 2008 decide if the voters really want the USA to lose to these Islamos.

TERRORISM: EUROPEAN RIGHTS WATCHDOG CHIEF URGES GUANTANAMO'S IMMEDIATE CLOSURE

Strasbourg, 9 Jan. (AKI) - The head of the Council of Europe - Europe's top human rights watchdog - has called on the United States government to brook no delay in shutting down its controversial military prison camp for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. "Guantanamo is a flagrant violation of human rights, an embarrassment to the United States of America and a liability in the world’s fight against terrorism," Terry Davis said on Tuesday in a statement ahead...

The correct response to hand any EU member...would be that if a proper society adopted absolute control over weapons then they would not be invaded or have its citizens killed (why not use the mighty members of the EU as an example?). A strong segment of society in Somalia...which we aren't sure if they are Muslims or not....apparently did not control their weapons or use of weapons...and since society is unable to take care of their own situations...then your neighbors will help control the situation.

The EU should be held as an example for any African country...and let any idiot who wants to believe in the European socialism...get a strong spoon full of the their garbage. It sounds good in press and certainly makes your shining example look even better then it really is.
